ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Inrecentyears,significanttheoreticalandresearchknowledge regarding intergroup conflicts hasaccumulated.StudiesintheProgramaredesignedtoprovidestudentswithin-depthandcomprehensivetraininginthecoreanddiverseresearchareasofsocialpsychology,withafocusonintergrouprelationsandsocialchange.

LeadingresearchersinthefieldareonthefacultyofIDC’sSchoolofPsychology.Theirwork,motivatedbytheexperienceoflivinginasocietyinconflict,focusesoncreating innovativetheoreticalknowledgeandinterventiontoolsrelevanttointergrouprelations,aswellasdevelopinganinterfacebetweentheoreticalresearchandappliedresearch-basedconsultancy.

The Program curriculum was designed in light ofthisdistinctivework.Assuch,itwillprovideprogramgraduateswithtoolsrelevantforpursuingbotharesearchandanappliedcareerassocialpsychologists.Towardthesegoals,studentswilllearnthefoundationaltheories,methods,anddomainsofresearchofsocialpsychology,alongsidetheuniquenessofthefieldofintergrouprelationsandconflict.

This includescoursesoncoresocialpsychologicaltheory;advancedresearchmethods;ahands-onresearchseminar;andprofessional/appliedskills.Inaddition,studentswillmeetwithexpertsfromoutsideacademiawhoareimplementingsocialpsychologyinthefield,andwillgainexperienceinpracticalfieldwork.

ThenewInternationalMAPrograminSocialPsychologywasconstructedbasedonourstrongconvictionthatthefieldofsocialpsychologyoffersknowledgeandtoolsthatarecriticalinaddressingsomeofthebiggestchallengesoftheworldtoday,includingviolentintergroupconflict,prejudiceanddiscrimination,politicalintolerance,inequalityandmore.ThroughthisProgramwehopetoexposestudentstobothclassicandcutting-edgesocialpsychologicalknowledge,researchexperience,andtheappliedskillsandexperiencenecessaryfordevelopingandimplementingthisknowledgetowardthebettermentofsociety.

TheProgramisstructuredtoenablestudentstoexploretheirpersonalinterestsinthefieldofsocialpsychology,andtrainthemforbotharesearchandanappliedcareer.TheProgramistaughtinEnglishbylecturerswhoareleadinginternationalexpertsintheirfields.Together,westrivetoprovideastimulating,inclusive,andsupportiveenvironmentinwhichstudentscanthrivepersonally,andexcelacademically.
