Warhammer Worlds MostImportant Rule:In games the size and complexity of ours there arebound to be occasions where a situation is not coveredby the rules or you cant seem to find the right page.Even if you know the rule, sometimes it just a reallyclose call and players dont agree on the precise

outcome. Nobody wants to waste valuable gamingtime on arguing, so be prepared to interpret a ruleor come up with a suitable solution for yourselves (ina gentlemanly fashion of course). It is important toremember that the rules are just a framework for anenjoyable game and winning is less important thanmaking sure both players have a good time.

Hello and welcome to the pack for the Battle Brothersevents being held at Warhammer World throughout2013. This pack covers all three of our core gaming sono matter which Battle Brothers event you are comingto, this is the only pack you will need!

Battle Brothers events are all about having a great timewith your closest ally, meeting new people and havingfun. This pack will explain, in detail, how the events willwork. For those of you who just want to turn up andplay, heres all you really need to know:

Arrive at the event with you gaming partner, yourpainted army and gaming materials, dice, tapemeasure etc. then prepare to have an awesometime with your closest ally fighting great games withlikeminded people, see some inspirational armies andhave a huge amount of fun.

Finally, its worth mentioning that our games are writtento be played in the spirit of friendly competition, wherewinning is less important than making sure everyonehas a great time. You can help maintain this friendlyspirit by ensuring that you and your opponent followWarhammer Worlds Most Important Rule at all times.

And thats all you really need to know about the BattleBrothers events. However, if you would like to know indetail how the weekend will work, read on...

The Event So, as you are still reading then you must be curious asto how the event will work? Here are the facts...

Battle Brothers is your chance to have fun with a friend,partner or family member, playing games against othersuch teams. The spirit of this event is entirely social andthe challenge of playing as a team of two ensures thatyou will have a great time. By this definition, BattleBrothers is a great opportunity to meet new friends andgives you a fantastic reason to catch up with old allieswho you havent seen for a while.

Battle Brothers also offers you the opportunity toshowcase your army to other hobbyists, play againstsome of the best painted and converted armies inthe world, share your ideas and get inspired for newhobby projects.

Registering at Warhammer WorldWhen you arrive at the Battle Brothers, youll need toregister in with the events staff, who will give you anevents folder containing a record card, a rules packand random table for your first game. If you have pre-registered, youll save a lot of time here! To register,you will need the following

Your ticket A team name (family friendly of course) Two copies of the army list you are using over the

weekend.

At a two-day event, we will open an optional earlyregistration on the Friday night. If you arrive inNottingham early, and want to avoid the queues, thenwhy not pop along and register early with us!

Your Army You must bring along a fully painted and based army,picked with your partner to a specific points valuefrom a current and official list produced by GamesWorkshop. Forge World and Warhammer Forge listsand units are not permitted at Battle Brothers. You willalso need your gaming materials dice, templates,tape measures, Rulebook and two copies of the ArmyList you are using. The points value and composition ofthe army depends on the game you are playing:

Warhammer : Each player uses a 1,000 point armyallied together following the rules found on page 136 of the Warhammer Rulebook

EG: Nick and John are going to Battle Brothers andNick is taking a 1,000 point Orcs & Goblins army.

John is taking a 1,000 point Vampire Counts army.These two armies fight alongside each other as detailedin the Warhammer Rulebook.

Warhammer 40,000 : A 1,500 point army chosenbetween two people using the rules from pages 108 113 of the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook.

EG: Adam and Rob are going to Battle Brothersand between them they need to fill a single 1,500point army. Adam spends 800 points on a primarydetachment of Black Templars and Rob spends 600points on Blood Angels as an allied detachmentfollowing the rules in the Warhammer 40,000Rulebook. Between them they then spend 100 pointson fortifications, giving them their 1,500 point army.

EG 2: Gareth and Ray are also going to Battle Brothersand between them they are taking 1,500 points ofOrks as a single army. Gareth will use 900 points ofthe Orks and Ray will use 600 points, giving them asingle 1,500 point army from one codex.

The Rules of Engagement These guidelines have been created in order to ensureeveryone has a great hobby experience at all of ourevents. The intention is that, whilst ensuring everyone

can take full advantage of their creative urges, there isno confusion over what models represent and that theevent is relaxed and enjoyable for all.

M iniatures All of your models must be fully painted and

based and fully represent what is on your army list(including all equipment).

Every miniature and component must be producedby Games Workshop (Citadel, Forge World orWarhammer Forge).

We know many people like to take the opportunityto convert models for thematic and creative reasons.We actively encourage this, but do ask that if youare going to do so, please check with the eventsteam first. We may ask you to make allowances atthe event in order to ensure there is no confusion foryour opponents.

P roxies A proxy miniature is a model that is standing in

for something else and has not been changed in anyway. Examples include using plastic Cadian Shock

Troops as Stormtroopers or plastic Tyranid Ravenersas Fiends of Slannesh.

Your Army List An Army List is a record of your complete army,covering all of the unit entries, their wargear andtheir individual point costs. If you need help withproducing an Army List then contact your localGames Workshop Hobby Centre.

The Army List is an important part of theweekend. You need to hand in a copy duringregistration to be checked by the event staff.

You will also need to have one to hand duringyour games for reference. Additionally, if thescores are tied for Battle Brothers Champions,the presentation of your Army List could be thefactor that swings the results in your favour.

Great examples of Army Lists we have hadhanded in previously include parchments,message arrows with rolled up lists on them,even fully illustrated books that tell the tale of thearmys creation! The opportunities are endless,so feel free to go all out just as long as theyare legible!

We do not allow any proxy miniatures at ourevents. If Games Workshop produces a modelfor a unit entry, we expect you to use the correctmodel, for the sake of clarity to your opponent.(For conversions, please see the point above in theMiniatures section).

If you wish to personalize your units and/orconvert/kit bash plastic or Citadel Finecast kitsto create your own unique models that fit yourvision of your army, please check with the eventsteam first. We may ask you to make allowancesat the event in order to ensure enjoyment of youropponents. Simply gluing a scope to plastic CadianShock Trooper wont make him a Kasrkin, butadding a gnarly chainsword and an appropriatepaint job to a tactical marine can easily make him aheretic Chaos Marine Renegade.

C onduCt We do ask that you try and resolve any rules

problems out yourselves using your Rulebooks. Ifyou cant, or you need help, feel free to call over amember of staff.

Y our t eaM n aMeWhen you register at Battle Brothers, youll need togive us a name for your team. Perhaps you mightgo for a name relating to your armies, such as TheWarriors of the Emperor or something to intimidatethe other teams, like The Crushers of Souls. Perhapsyou might for the ever-popular comedy option likeThe Ninja Badgers or The Rubber Ducky Generals.Whatever you call yourselves, it should to bememorable and must be family friendly!

G aMes You will play five games over the course of a two

day event and three over a single day. Each roundwill be against a randomly selected opponent andwill last two and a half hours.

The scenery will be set-up prior to the event. If thescenario requires a special terrain feature, it will beprovided for you.

Scenarios will be taken from the rulebook of thegame system that you are playing. They will berandomly generated by the event staff prior to eachgame. If there are a random number of objectivesthey will roll for this too and everyone in the eventwill play the same game.

Warhammer : using the Pitched Battles scenarios frompage 141 of the Warhammer Rulebook.

Warhammer 40,000 : using the Eternal War missionsfrom page 118 of the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebookwith the deployment maps from the same section.After each round you must fill in the results slip andhand it to the events staff.

s CorinG The team who scored the most Victory Points over

the course of the event will be declared the BattleBrothers Champions.

In each game, your team will score a number ofVictory Points as described in the scenario beingplayed. Record these on your result slips prior tohanding them in to the event staff.

In the final round both you and your partner willpick your favourite game that you played over theweekend using the voting slips on your event recordsheet. The completed slips must both be handed inat the end of your final round. Each favourite gamevote is worth 3 victory points in Warhammer 40,000or 500 victory points in Warhammer.

In the event of a tie then the event organisers willuse the number of favourite game votes to decidethe winner, if there is still a tie then the final decisionwill be based on the presentation of your army list

Events only During Warhammer Events, we may very well play thescenario The Watchtower. For this scenario only,capturing the watchtower in the centre of the board isworth an additional 500 Victory Points.

a wardsAt the end of the Battle Brothers event, we will havean Awards Ceremony, where we will recognisethe achievements made by some of the teams. AtWarhammer World, we like to recognise every aspectof the hobby, so there is something for everyone, nomatter what you love about the Games Workshophobby. We will award:

The Battle Brothers Champions : the team who scorethe most amount of Victory Points over the weekend.

The Acolytes of War: the team who score the second-highest amount of Victory Points.

The Aspirants of Glory: the team who score the third-highest amount of Victory Points.

The Artisans of Renown: the team who receive themost number of votes for Best Army, as voted for bythe players.

The Scribes Quills: the team who are deemed tohave the Best Army List.

The Soldiers of Misfortune: the team who score thelowest amount of Victory Points.

Bugmanss Rangers : the team who win the Pub Quiz(Two day event only)

Legends Painting Competition Awards : For theplayers who win the Legends Painting Competition.

The Emperors Laurels: For the team/ teams whorecieved the highest number of Favourite Game

Votes. Warhammer World Knight of the Inner Circle : For

any team who manages to earn 100% of theavailable Favourite Game Votes (3 for a single dayevent, 5 for a two day event)

Awards and how to win them t he B attle B rothers C haMPionsThe trophy for the overall champions is awarded to theteam who scores the most Victory Points over the event(including those Victory Points earned for gaming andFavourite Game votes are added together). If there isa draw, we will then look at how many Victory Points

have been earned from Favourite Game votes as adecider. Is this is still a draw, we will decide the winnerby the presentation of their army list.

t he s CriBes QuillsEvery time we have an event here at WarhammerWorld, were amazed by the quality of some of thearmy lists we get handed to us old dusty tomes,electronic read-outs, scrolls, skulls, fully illustratedbooks and the like! We even had a huge woodenshield given to us once To honour this creativity,we created the Scribes Quills award for best army

list. Judged by the member of the Events Staff whochecks all of the army lists, this prize goes entirely onpresentation. So why not go mad and see what youcan create? The team who is judged by us to have themost extravagant and well-presented army list will winThe Scribes Quills at the Award Ceremony!

t he a rtisans of r enownDuring the first games play, the Events Staff will circlethe hall a good number of times and take a veryclose look at all of the armies in attendance. We willthen make a shortlist of armies we believe to be the

best in the hall, and nominate them for the Artisans ofRenown Award. The criteria we use when deciding ournominations are:

Quality of Painting Is there a high technical qualityof painting across the army?

Appearance as a whole Does the army look greatas a whole on the table? Do the models complementeach other?

Originality Are there conversions, or a colourscheme we havent seen before? Is your armyunique?

Theme Is your army obviously themed?

Centrepiece Is there a great centrepiece model forthe army?

Army extras Have you got all your cool objectivemarkers etc?

If youve been nominated for the Artisans of RenownAward, you will be informed just before voting takesplace. (Please note we will ask you if have paintedeverything yourself. Please be honest here if youdidnt paint the force, let us know. If you didnt paintthe army yourselves, we cant put you forward for

the award, as it would be unfair on those that have).All the nominated teams will then have the chance todisplay their models during the lunch break (on thesecond day for a two-day event) while all the playersat the event vote on them in secret, using the paintingcompetition slips on your record sheets. The team whoreceives the most votes will win the Artisans of Renown prize at the Award Ceremony.

Bugmans RangersIts tradition here at Warhammer World that, wheneverwe hold a two day event, we have a pub quiz in theevening and Battle Brothers is no exception.

This is done just for fun and no effect on the rest of theweekend whatsoever! Gather yourselves into teams ofno more than 6 (you do not have to stay in your BattleBrothers teams for this), and answer a devilish slew ofquestions about whichever game you are playing thatweekend, including picture rounds, rules questions,

brain teasers and more.The team who scores the highest will all win theBugmans Rangers prize at the Award Ceremony, aswell as a free round of drinks on us!

The Warhammer WorldKnight of the Inner CircleWe here at Warhammer World consider sportsmanshipand displaying a great attitude to be far and awaymore important than winning games, and as such, wecreated a magnificent prize The Knight of the InnerCircle.

This awesome trophy is awarded to each member ofany team which manages to gain 100% of FavouriteGame votes (6 in a one day event, 10 in a two dayevent). Such a display of great conduct is worthy ofnote, and anyone who does so is inducted into theWarhammer World Inner Circle of Knights .

The Legends Painting Competition is run alongside theBattle Brothers event and gives the chance to show offyour skills with single models rather than with wholearmies. Open to everyone at Battle Brothers, simplyenter a model in the relevant category when we areholding the competition (times are different dependingon a one day or two day event check the schedule atthe end of this pack).

Once all the entries are in, we will open voting foreveryone at the event to choose their favourite in eachcategory, using voting slips provided. The entrant whoreceives the most number of votes will receive therelevant prize at the Award Ceremony.

Please note, these models do not have to from yourarmy for the event, so feel free to bring anything youlike, from any games system you like!

Beast of Legend you may enter any monster at allfrom you collection. It must be on a 40mm (Terminator/Ogre) sized base or bigger.

Engine of Legend you may enter any war machine ortank from your collection.

Hero of Legend you may enter any single miniaturefrom your collection, which is on a 25mm (Infantrybase) or smaller.

Monument of Legend you may enter any piece ofscenery from your collection (dimensions 2 x 1 and18 tall or smaller).
