NO HOLDS BARREDBy M. A. SADANAND

“Don’t you feel that chaps like Ram Dev can’t be allowedto flaunt their torso to the brink of nudity in public, evenwhile inviting gods to be one up on the PM and the SupremeCourt? “

“Ram, clothes are next to the war weapons, the costliestmerchandise in a modern expo, the less of it making ashedder closer to the almighty. That’s one way of beingrecognised as a special being out of the innumerable billioncrawling under the good old Sun.”

“Nudity is a modern ploy by the victor in competitionswhere the more one exposes the god-given curves andundulations, the more is the chance of earning the laurel.”

“But who would want to see the hirsute Ram? Evengranting that he has a fundamental right to wear clothesor not, especially at a public expo where there are a hundredthousand fools, his lush underarm hair expo reportedlymade hundreds puke. The police, instead of wielding thelathi, could have quietly removed the chap on a charge ofindecent exp, especially when there were thousands ofwomen in the animal farm that suddenly sprouted. Thisguy, who cannot cleanse himself, wants the administra-tion to kneel before him and allow him to die through self-imposed starvation, which attempt is punishable underSection 309 I.P.C”

“Perhaps the I.P.C has been amended to help suchcitizens!”

“It is still attempted suicide but, if done by billionaires,is not an offence. Some wise man once said “law is an ass”.Even in lawless Germany of Hitler, if he had killed just oneJew, perhaps a mad chap would have prosecuted him. Butsince Hitler chose to kill about ten million Jews, it was akinto riding in a battle tank or on a scooter. Fortune favoursthe fools and the billionaires!

“What about the Gandhi-cap reviver Hazare? He threat-ens to commit suicide on August 16, if Lok Pal can’t snoopPM’s bank passbook?”

“Good, even a beggar should file his returns. That is theacme of democracy. My only fear is that, drunk with power,Hazare would demand that every man, woman and childin India should wear a Gandhi-cap. This extra impositionon the women folk is undemocratic. So let’s carry on withour brand of democracy, with perhaps a variety of scamsto make life interesting and Tihar ticking.”
