When hiring a permanent employee, do you wish you had one with solid experience? One whose academic career matches the needs of your industry? Wouldn’t it be nice to “try out” a prospective employee for a while and be able to mold them to your specific needs? If you answered yes, then our internship program is for you. For the past 19 years, we have been developing strong construction management students. We believe that a solid academic foundation coupled with practical hands-on learning through an internship makes for the best graduates. Our internship program is a requirement to receive our Construction and Facility Management baccalaureate degree, which means when they graduate from the U, they have both academic grounding and practical experience. And many employers have benefitted from this program, plucking the raw talent of our students and, in a majority of cases, converting them to full time employees. Traditionally, our students have worked in all aspects of the industry: building construction, residential construction, highway heavy/civil works, facilities management, owner’s representation, subcontractors, suppliers, professional practice groups (architects and engineers), construction accounting and materials testing agencies. By sending you this .pdf, we are offering a virtual job fair to our industry employer prospects. The attached pdf includes resumes of those eligible students seeking internships in Summer or Fall 2016. These students are available and ready to sign on with you, and most are interested in working part-time during the school year to enable them to continue their studies. Feel free to look over the resumes, and contact students directly if you are interested. If you would like us to help you schedule a group of interviews on campus, our Career and Internship Services Center is ready to assist you. You may also post your opportunity on our free hosting site for employers, GoldPass. Please note that you should act reasonably quickly – our history of placement shows that nearly all students get hired. Since 2004, 14% of our interns were hired multiple times, and 46 local firms in our database repeatedly hire our interns. These students have given us their permission to distribute their resumes. We ask that you respect their privacy by not broadcasting this information to just anyone. Sharing this with cohorts in your firm and associates within your network of industry professionals that you may think are interested is encouraged. Give an intern a try. Join your peers that have hired our graduates to permanent positions after completing your internship experience. If you require further information, wish to meet me to learn more, or have a few questions, please contact me at [email protected] or my office phone: 612-624-8831, or visit our internship web page to learn more.
