November meeting held at England Run Branch of Rappahannock
Library. Meeting was well attended despite a competing event
at another library. Poetry and Prose were well represented,
most readers (pictured above) gave the audience more than
one sample of their work. Thanks to all participants and we
look forward to seeing everyone back at the Salem Church
Library for our Christmas Party on December 9th.
The Rappahannock River Writers anthology for 2017 is now available at a bargain price of $6.00.
Anthologies can be obtained at regular meetings or by arrangement with club treasurer
Greg Miller.

QUICK UPDATES: December 7, 2017 Treasurer’s Report: Balance 1679.97. The latest anthology of member
works is done orders continue to be taken. Cost per book is tentatively set at $6.00 per book from club, $12.00
through Amazon direct. Order as many as you wish!! Elections were held to fill the upcoming 2018 vacancies for
Vice President and Secretary. By a unanimous vote , Andrea Reed and Bronwyn Robinson were reelected for
the next years term. Bronwyn gave a report on the Young Writer’s Club. They are still very active, having
recently attended the Fredericksburg Book Fair. They are considering changing their meeting date to the first
Saturday of the month, beginning in 2018. They have expressed an interest in attending our Christmas Party in
December instead of their regular meeting. We look forward to the opportunity of meeting these budding
authors. There is some discussion and agreement for changing the Parade of Prose from and annual to a bi-
annual event. Barely 20 persons were in attendance, at any one time this year, and considering the work and
time needed to offer this event, that did not seem like enough participation. Great news from the Virginia
Writers Club regarding our participation in the state wide Golden Nib Contest. We have three winners, one in
each category of Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry. President Jim and others from the club attended the
November 4, 2017 meeting at the Richmond Times-Dispatch Building, Mechanicsville, VA. President Jim gave a
thorough report on the latest activities of the Virginia Writers Club and discussed the plans for the upcoming

Mary Coffman Burke, and D. J. Mehlman. A basket for the silent auction at the meeting was prepared by
Madalin Bickel on behalf of Riverside Writers.

The Critique Group meets every Monday at
7:00 PM at the Books a Million Coffee Shop.
March 14th, 2016, seventeen readers
showed up and read their poems and prose
for all to enjoy.
It was quite a presentation and everyone
had the opportunity to read their work.
Thanks for attending this crucial part of the
writing experience. You never know how
someone will react to your hard work but
chances are the criticism will be helpful!
