Seeking Your Heroine

We tend to see ourselves in the doll. The doll

represents an aspect of the human condition.

When one engages with the process of making

a doll all kinds of possibilities come to the

surface. Dollmaking is a way to free oneself

of worries, struggles and emotions. Creating

a doll, or any art, directly effects the automatic

nervous system which controls body functions

and the immune system.

Creating an art doll with the intention of

healing invites and encourages the doll

creator to explore a range of perceptions

and emotions and in doing so reach a

deeper level of self awareness,

understanding and love.

Making a healing doll can serve as a

catalyst that induces the healing process,

awaken long lost stories and creates a

transformation.

Dollmaking and dolls can serve as healing

tools.

Setting Intentions Lead the way…

- “I intend to heal the fear within.”

- “I intend to focus my healing energies toward accepting who I am.”

- “I intend to focus on healing my broken heart.”

- “I intend to heal my self-worth, to focus on healing energy toward

accepting my body.”

- “ I intend to let go of the shame and guilt for being the spiritual

person I am and not what others want me to be.”

- “I intend to focus healing energy toward claiming my power.”

Certain Key Issues continue to show up

• Self esteem, love and acceptance

• Depression

• Fear

• Letting go of shame

• Relationships with men and mother

• Self image, taking care of self

• Illness, disease

One of the most important aspect of healing dolls.

Feelings are messengers that deliver essential

information about what’s going on inside of you.

Dollmaking helps express and release feelings.

Feelings are meant to be felt, understood and explored

and then released.

The more you try to hide from or ignore a feeling the more

persistent it can become.

Stuffing them doesn’t make them go away just pushes them

into your physical energetic system which could end up in

illness or disease.

I happened upon your website over 3 years

ago. I had been perusing the art form of

dolls for at least a year prior and was

fascinated with expressing in this way. At

the same time, I had just had my rape case

go to court after 14 years of not knowing

who perpetrated me. It was a culminating

event in my life and much was brought to the

surface for me to take a look at and heal. I

held a desire for this healing to somehow

hold inspiration and joy and, well, the two

pieces came together when I saw what you

had to offer. I could no longer express my

emotions in words on paper, I needed an art

form that would take me to a new place.

I’ve learned that the most important step in

healing is the committed action step in

response to that 'still small voice'. I’ve

learned that I have to be willing to stretch,

to endure the pain of moving in new ways.

I’ve learned that if emotion wants to flow,

it’s best to allow it. I’ve learned that

emotion doesn’t require story and that, in

the allowing, it often informs. I've learned

how to trust deeply and fully.

I believe it’s time for all of us to make a

commitment to ourselves, to listen to our

pain or discomfort in new and intentional

ways, to open ourselves to that voice that

is guiding us, to show up in our fullness

and to bring our unique gifts to the world. It

may be the most challenging commitment

you make ~ and likely the most rewarding

one.
