Etymology. Thc specific nanre is given in allusion to the shape oI the bracteoles which are trowcl_shaped, from the Latin /ralla, the diminutive ofrruia (a skimmer of stirring spoon), and the suffix -/o,n is(having the form of).

Affi.nities. Acacia trulLlfurmis is a mcmber of the A. Jlavipila group (see Cowan & Maslin 1990andMaslin in press) and sccms closcst to A . loxophy aBenth. which is mosr readily distinguished by itssmaller phyllodcs (3-8 mrn long, 2 5 rnm wide) with resin masses in their axils, shorter peduncles(2 3 mm long) and fewer flowercd hcnds (20-40 llowcred). There is also a relationship, less closely,with another member of the A. flavipila group - A. casslcala R.S. Cowan & Maslin - which has twomain nerves on each phyllode facc and a much morc regular, imprcssed reticulum; it also has glabrous,shorter peduncles (3 5 rnm long in flowor', to I0 mm when in fiuit), smaller, t'ewer-flowered heads(22-30-flowered) and glabrous, narrowcr pods (3-4 rr.rm wide).

Discussion. This is the plant that Bcntharn labelled 'Acacia ixiophyllaBenth. yar. IqtifoLia' o\ a sheetat Kew but neverfbrmally publishcd. The specimen was collected by G. Maxwell in the ,Gordon RanAe'and was cited by Bontham ( | 1164) under A. i.t io1)hylla.
