    The student will be able to:

    1. (Psychomotor): successfully jump over their rope 5 times in a row during one of the tasks whenasked by the teachers.2. (Cognitive): use problem solving skills to decipher a jump rope related problem posed to them

    by the teachers.3. (Affective): encourage classmates to continue jumping during the last minute of each task.

    H. National Standards:

    1. Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform avariety of physical activities.

    5. Exhibits responsible, personal, and social behavior that respects self and others in physicalactivity settings.

    I. ISBE Standards:19. A.3 Demonstrate control when performing combinations and sequences of locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative motor patterns in selected activities, games and sport. 21.A.3c Remain on task independent of distraction (e.g., peer pressure, environmental stressors).

    J. Overall Safety: Students will watch spacing with one another and respect personal boundaries. Use

    the equipment properly.

    K. Health-Related Fitness (HRF) Component & Activities that Support Learning of HRF:Muscular endurance and cardiovascular endurance will be addressed during this lesson during

    the repetition of teach task. Teachers will address this at the end of the lesson during the closure.

    L. (5 min) Instant Activity: Jewels in the Crown

    1) Description: Five hoops are scattered in the activity area. At each hoop there are 4-5students, and inside each hoop there are the same number of beanbags as there are studentsat that hoop. On a signal from the teacher, all the students begin to travel to other hoops and

    pick up beanbags (one at a time) and place it in their "home" hoop. No guarding of hoops isallowed. On a stop signal from the teacher, all students return to their "home" hoop and acount may be taken of beanbags at each hoop (scoring is optional). The game resumes onthe signal from the teacher.

    2) Safety: Body parts will be kept to themselves. Use equipment properly.3) Diagram of activity: See Attached4) Transition to next lesson component: The teachers will be told to freeze and will return

    their attention to the center.

    M. (1-2 min) Set InductionThe students will be asked, What kind of sports do athletes use jump rope to warm up with? Howmany of you have ever jumped rope? The students will each get a jump rope.

    N. (6-7 min.) Task 1: Follow the Leader1) Description: The students will be instructed to get into one large circle. The students will

    then turn their attention to the center of the circle to see the teachers. Both the teachers andthe students will have short ropes. We will practice different jump rope techniques like:regular forward jumping, backward jumping, crossover, double jumps, and single leg jumps(left and right). We will have them follow along. Each task will be done for at least 1minute.

    2) Safety: Body parts will be kept to themselves. Use equipment properly.3) Diagram: see attached4) Extension: the students can change their jump-roping tempo.

    O. (5-6 min) Task 2: The Brians Behind Jump Rope1) Description: The students will be in pairs and they will have to work together to figure out

    how to have both of them jump over the rope simultaneously, using one rope. Once thestudents figure that one out they can move on and try to figure out how to move from

    forward to backwards without completely bringing the rope to a stop.2) Safety: Be respectful of other students space and use the jump ropes properly.3) Diagram: see attached4) Extension: the students can switch roles in the partner task.5) Refinement: Spacing

    P. (6-7 min) Task 3: Jump Rope Stations1) Description: There will be 5 stations spread out through out the gym. At each station the

    students will do one of the following: regular forward jumping, backward jumping,crossover jumps, double jumps, and single leg jumps (left and right).

    2) Safety: Be respectful of other students space and use the jump ropes properly.3) Diagram: see attached4) Extension: the students can change their jump-roping tempo.8) Refinement: Spacing

    The teachers will address the muscular and cardiovascular portion of the lesson. They willreinforce that jumping rope is a good warm up for other physical activities and sport.

    lesson.
