St Philips Leeds welcomes its first new recruit

Ten Sheffield Hallam law students have won a branding competition held by the University which was sponsored for the third year in a row by Irwin Mitchell.

The Clinical Legal Education Firm Brand competition, which is entered by second-year students as part of their clinical legal education studies, involves students deciding upon a name for a firm and then designing a logo, strapline and mission statement for it.

The winning entry was of a fictional firm named TLC. The team of students had designed and developed their brand around the importance of local client care, with a strapline emphasising their key values of trust, loyalty and competence.

Irwin Mitchell’s head of group marketing, David Wilson, judged the entries. Following a presentation about the importance of branding within the legal sector, Wilson, together with the Module Leader Jill Dickinson, presented students with certificates and book vouchers.

Chadwick Lawrence apprentice to promote the profession

An apprentice at Chadwick Lawrence is set to share his experiences with school children, college students and parents after being chosen to be an apprentice ambassador by the National Apprenticeship service.

20 year-old Joshua Smith will be travelling to various careers fairs and institutions of education to impart listeners, both young and old, with the knowledge he has accumulated during his two years with the firm.

“I am delighted to have been approached regarding this scheme, and will be starting my training imminently,” said Smith.

“Attending these events as an ambassador means I will get the chance to share my experiences with others and spread the word about the apprenticeship scheme here at Chadwick Lawrence.”

Managing partner at Chadwick Lawrence Neil Wilson added: “We are extremely proud of our apprenticeship scheme and are seeing a number of colleagues progressing in their careers through this training route. It’s essential for us to promote the programme directly to the students, and what better way to do this than through a chosen ambassador from our firm who is on the journey himself.”

During his time at the firm, Smith has worked alongside Chadwick Lawrence’s dispute resolution and employment teams in Leeds.
