Installation:

Insertthebundledminicdintoyourcomputertobegintheinstallation.OncomputersrunningtheWindowsoperatingsystem,awelcomewindowwillappearwithanoptiontobegintheinstallationprocess.IfyoursystemissettodisallowCDauto‐runyouwillnotseethewelcomewindowandyoumustlaunchtheinstallermanuallybybrowsingtheCDcontentsin“MyComputer”.Ifyoursystemisnotphysicallycompatiblewiththebundledminicdyoumaydownloadtheprogramfortheoperatingsystemofyourchoicefromthefollowingwebsite:

Followallinstructionsgivenbytheinstallerandcompletetheprograminstallation.

QuickStartGuide:

ThequickstartguidewillhelpyoustartprogrammingtheS1‐LXUSBprogrammerwithyourcomputer.Besuretohavetheprograminstalledonyourcomputerbeforeproceeding.Followtheinstallationinstructionsaboveifyouhavenotalreadyinstalledtheprogram.

1. Launchtheinstalledprogram

2. ConnectingtheUSBProgrammerModule:ConnecttheUSBProgrammerModuletooneofyourcomputer’sUSBportsusingtheincludedUSBcableasshownbelow:

Theprogramshouldautomaticallyrecognizeyourconnectedprogrammerandlistitunderthe"Programmers"tab.

3. Selectingathermostattoconfigure:ClickonthesettingstabtolistalltheLXSeriesthermostatsthatcanbeprogrammedusingthisprogram.Findthethermostatmodelthatyouwouldliketoprogramandclickonits"ChangeSettings"button.Forexample,toprogramtheTHSU32HP7,clickonthefollowingbutton:

4. Configuringathermostat:Youwillnowseeascreenfilledwithalltheconfigurableoptionsforthatparticularthermostat.Thecurrentstep,thetotalnumberofstepsavailable,andthetitleofthecurrentstepareshownonthetopleftcornerofthescreen.Intheimagebelow,theuseriscurrentlyviewingthefirstof8stepsandhe/sheisconfiguringtheGeneralSettingsofthethermostat.

Onthelowerleftandrightcornersofthescreenare2buttonslabeledPreviousandNext.Thesebuttonsallowtheusertonavigatetothenextstepandtothepreviousstep.Therearealso2buttonsonthetoprightcornerofthescreenlabeled"SetDefaults"and"Close".Clickingthe"SetDefaults"buttonwillrevertallofthesettingsforthecurrentstepbacktothefactorydefaultvalues.Theclosebuttonwillreturnyoutothemain"Settings"screen.Configurethethermostat'ssettingsonebyonetoyourdesiredliking.Toexittothemain"Settings"pageclickonthe"Close"button.

5. Configuringotherthermostats:RepeatStep4foreachthermostatmodelthatyouwouldliketoprogram;theapplicationwillremembereachmodel'sconfiguration

Settingserviceinformationandscrollingmarquee:Theserviceinformationisthetextdisplayedwhenserviceisrequiredandmarqueetextisthetextdisplayedatothertimes.Fortheserviceinformation,youcaneitherusethedefaultsettings,yourowncustomtext,orchoosetonotdisplayanyserviceinformationonthethermostat.Forthescrollingmarqueetext,youmayuseyourowncustomtext,ornotdisplayanytext.

RefertotheTextFormattingandSpecialCharacterssectionformoreinformationonformattinganddisplayingspecialcharacters.

7. SendingthesettingstotheUSBProgrammerModule:Oncesatisfiedwiththethermostatconfiguration,clickonthe"SendSettings"buttononthe"Settings"screen.

Selecttheprogrammerthatyouwouldliketoprogramandclick"Send".Oncethesettingsaresuccessfullysent,clickonthe"OK"buttontoreturntothe"Settings"screen.Clickonthe“Programmers”tabandclick“Eject”ontheprogrammerinuse.Onceithassuccessfullyejected,youmayunplugtheUSBProgrammerModulefromthecomputer.

8. Savingyourconfiguration:Ifyouwouldliketosaveyourconfigurationtoafile,specifyadescriptivenameinthe"Name"inputboxlocatedinthe"Settings"screen.Oncefinished,clickonthe"SavetoFile"button.SelectalocationforthefileandclickOK.Afilecontainingallofyoursettings,includingtheServiceInformationandscrollingmarqueetext,willbecreated.Youmayloadthisfileinthefutureusingthe"LoadfromFile"buttontoloadalloftheconfigurationsettingsthatyou'vesaved.Note:The"SavetoFileAs"buttonwillsavethecurrentsettingasanewfile.Thisisusefulifyouwouldliketosaveasadifferentfileratherthansavingittothesamefilethatyou'veloaded.

TextFormattingandSpecialCharacters:

ThescrollingmarqueedisplayoftheLXSeriesthermostatcandisplaytextualinformationtotheuser,includingcustomizedmessagesthatyoucanprogramintothethermostat.Anumberofformattingoptionsareavailablesothattextualinformationispresentedthewaytheyareintended.

BecausetheLXSeriesthermostatislimitedtodisplaying10charactersatatime(includingspaces),youmayusespecialcharacterstocorrectlyformatyourmessage.Youmaypreviewtheminthedifferentscrollingmodesbyclickingonthe“Preview”buttonbeforeprogrammingthethermostat.

&‐Usetheampersand(&)todenoteanon‐breakingspace.Wordsjoinedby"&"willbeconsideredasinglewordbywholewordscrollingmodes.Thisprovidesformatcontrolforsmallwords.

Example:

#‐Usethepoundsign(#)toaddasmartwordbreak.Thewordwillbebrokenatthe#characterandreplacedwitha"‐"whenawholewordscrollmodeisactive.Thewordwillnotbebrokeniftheactivescrollmodeisletterbyletter.Thisprovidesawaytosplitwordsthatarelargerthan10characters.

Example:

"PERIODIC#ALLY"willbedisplayedas

• "PERIODIC‐"• "ALLY"

Note:Theactualspecialcharactersthemselveswillnotbedisplayedonthethermostat.

ConfiguringProgrammableThermostats:AlloftheLXSeriesthermostats,withtheexceptionoftheTBSU22HN,canbeconfiguredtobeprogrammable.Thisallowstheusertoconfiguretimeperiodsetpoints(morning,day,evening,andnight).YoucaneasilyconfigurethisfortheprogrammableLXSeriesthermostatsusingthecomputertosavetime:Residential:TheresidentialmodelsoftheLXSeriesareallprogrammable.BoththeTHSU32P7andTHSU32HP7support1,5/2,and7dayprogrammablemodeswhereastheTHSU21P1onlysupports1dayprogrammablemode.Commercial:TheprogrammablecommercialmodelsoftheLXSeriesincludetheTBSU32HP7andtheTBSU32P7.Theybothsupport1,5/1/1and7dayprogrammablemodes.Programmingviacomputer:Clickonthe“ChangeSettings”buttonfortheparticularthermostatyou’dliketoconfigureandnavigatetothe“ThermostatModeandProgram”page.

Note:Ifyouareconfiguringacommercialmodel,youwillnoticethatadditionalfieldsareavailabletoconfiguretheUnoccupiedcoolandheatsetpoints.Furthermore,theresidential5/2programmode(weekday/weekend)isnow5/1/1(weekday/Saturday/Sunday)toaccommodatemostcommercialapplications.Youmayconfiguretheavailablemodesofthethermostat(autochangeover,manualchangeover,heatonly,orcoolonly)viathefirstdropdownmenu.Additionally,youcanalsoconfigurethemaximumheat/coolsetpointdifferenceviathenumericstepper.Tobeginprogramming,firstselecttheprogrammodeyou’dlikethethermostattobein.Selecting7daywilldisplayalistofMonday‐Sundaywhereas5/2daywilldisplayWeekday‐Weekendand1dayissimplyasingleday.Selectthedaythatyouwouldliketoprogramtoexpandit’stimeperiodsalongwiththestarttimes,coolsetpoint,heatsetpoint,andstoptime(ifcommercial).Clickingonthesame

daywillthencollapsethoserows.YoumaycollapseorexpandalldaysbyclickingontheCollapseAllandExpandAllbuttons.Onceexpanded,youmaybeginmodifyingtheprogramparametersbyclickingontheitem.Intheimagebelow,clickingonthe“StartTime”forMondayMorningopensalistofavailabletimesfromwhichyoumaypick.Similarly,youmayclickonthesetpointstoopenanumericstepperwhereyoucanincrement/decrementthesetpointvalueorinputdirectlybytypingthenumberonyourkeyboard.

Dothisforeachofthedayandtimeperiodthatyouwanttoprogram.Youmayalsocopyandpasteaday’sprogramintoanotherdaytospeeduptheprocess.Todothis,simplyclickonthedaythatyouwouldliketocopytodisplaytheCopyandPastebuttons.Ifyouclickonatimeperiodofaday,youwillnotseetheCopyandPastebuttons.

ClickingtheCopybuttonwillcopytheselectedday’sprogramtomemory.YoumaythenselectadifferentdayandclickonthePastebuttontoduplicatethecopiedprogramtothatparticularday.

Note:Themaxheat/coolsetpointdifferenceandthesecuritylimitheat/coolsetpoint(ifenabled)areenforcedwhileconfiguringyourthermostatprogram.Changingtheheat/coolsetpointdifferenceafterconfiguringyourthermostatprogrammayresultinsomesetpointsbeingchangedtomeetthenewsetpointdifferencerequirement.Ifyounoticethefollowingicon,hoverthemousecursoroverittoviewthechangesautomaticallyapplied.

ImportingDatatotheComputer:YoumayimportdatafromtheS1‐LXUSBUSBProgrammerModuletothecomputerformodificationand/orarchivingpurposes.WhenaUSBProgrammerModuleisconnectedtothecomputer,clickonthe“Programmers”tabintheprogramtoviewalistofconnectedProgrammerModules.ClicktheimportbuttonontheProgrammerModuleyouwouldliketoimportdatafrom:

Confirmtheimportandwaituntiltheimportingprocessfinishes.Oncecomplete,thesettingsforalloftheLXSeriesthermostatsarenowloadedontheapplication.Youmaythenmodifythesesettingsand/orsavethemtoafile.

Uninstall:ToremovetheLXSeriesUSBProgrammerApplicationfromyourcomputer,followthestepsoutlinedbelow:WindowsVista:Accessthe“ControlPanel”ofyourcomputerandclickon“ProgramsandFeatures”.FindandselecttheLXSeriesUSBProgrammerapplicationinthelist.Onceselected,clickontheAdd/RemoveProgramsbuttontobegintheuninstallprocess.

WindowsXP&EarlierVersions:Accessthe“ControlPanel”ofyourcomputerandclickon“AddorRemovePrograms”.FindandselecttheLXSeriesUSBProgrammerapplicationinthelist.Onceselected,clickonthe“Remove”buttontobegintheuninstallprocess.MacOSX:ToremovetheLXSeriesUSBProgrammerapplication,dragit’sicontothetrashcan.
