Making a Lung ModelMaterials1 cup with hole1 balloon1 large rubber bandSturdy tape such as electrical tape, Scotch tape will also work.
Making a Lung ModelCut a 6” x 6” square of plastic sheeting from a garbage bag. I fold the bag so that I can cut several squares at once.Fold each square in half. The next slide will show you how to attach the tape handle.
Making a Lung ModelAttach a quarter of the tape to one side of the fold. Turn the plastic over and fold the tape back on itself, attaching the remaining one-fourth of the tape to the other side of the plastic fold.
Making a Lung ModelDrill a hole in through the bottom of the cup. The hole needs to be slightly larger than the straw, but small enough to create a tight fit when the straw is inserted through the opening of the balloon.Insert the balloon through the hole. Any narrow, blunt object will make this task easier.
Making a Lung ModelCut about 3-4 inches off the end of a bendy straw.
Insert the straw into the balloon. The balloon forms an air tight seal between the straw and the hole.
Making a Lung Model
