Topic:
“Medicine as Ministry: Reigniting the passion to care for others by caring for ourselves”
Being a healthcare clinician can be a demanding and difficult profession. It can be mentally, physically and spiritually
exhausting! Patients can be challenging and keeping up with all the changes within healthcare can become burdensome. People
in our own health ministry are fatigued by an accelerated pace
of change requiring many role adaptations and challenges. In this environment, our original passion for patient care can get
lost.
This Lunch & Learn will help participants reflect on their own
original passions for choosing healthcare as a career path, and
will then explore new motivations for continuing careers in healthcare. The reality of burnout will be addressed, as will
methods for moving forward and beyond it.
Finally, we will consider an inspired vision of healthcare that
transcends the customer service model and may enable clinicians to find a more holistic and humane pathway forward in
their own practice.
