MTM, a fully owned subsidiary of Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc.,through its CUBOGAS brand of compressed natural gas compressors and systems for vehicle refueling, announced ithas signed a new exclusive multi-year contract with Rome-based Eni S.p.A. to supply and maintain new CNG refueling stations to be constructed in Italy.

Under the terms of the contract, over the next three yearsMTM will supply Eni's newly constructed Natural Gas stationswith complete "plug&fill" CNG compressors and refueling accessories and will provide station maintenance over the nextfive years.

Massimiliano Fissore, MTM General Manager, commented,"We are proud to be working with Eni, the leading gas distributor in the Italian market. This strategic contract achieves an important goal for MTM given Eni's continued investment in automotive CNG refueling networks across Italy."

MTM is a global player offering a comprehensive suite of components and systems for gaseous vehicles, from conversion kits to OEM, DOEM and aftermarkets to road andfleet refueling stations.

Mariano Costamagna, Fuel Systems Solutions CEO, stated,"The Italian market continues to enjoy growth in demand for CNG-fueled passenger vehicles, and major global OEMs remain committed to serving this market. Eni has historicallyopened 20 to 30 new stations per year, and this exclusivecontract is a coup for MTM."

United Kingdom

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) is calling for a ‘greentruck fund’ to help operators adopt low carbon technologies fo-llowing release of the latest figures from the Government’sLow Carbon Truck Trial. FTA says the fund would support operators in adopting alternative fuels to reduce air pollutants. It says the high costs of vehicle conversions or purchasingultra-low emission vehicles plus a lack of public refueling infrastructure are significant barriers to putting greener truckson the road.

“The majority of funding to date has been allocated towardscars and vans. If the Government is serious about supportinggreen vehicles, it must ensure that freight receives a fair shareof funding particularly given its key role in delivering the goodsand services vital for the UK economy,” said Rachael Dillon,FTA’s Climate Change Policy manager.

A number of FTA members are involved in the Low Carbon

NGV European newsTruck Trial, which is providing crucial feedback on the benefitsand challenges of operating heavy duty trucks with naturalgas. Data is being gathered to analyze emissions savings andthe other benefits that natural gas trucks can bring, such aslower noise. The trial involves more than 350 NGVs, with themajority using LNG and the remainder using CNG. 25 publicrefueling stations are being supported by the trial.

Natural gas and ultimately biomethane is an important alternative, especially for long trucking on motorways. OLEV issupporting a £4 million funding competition for public gas refueling infrastructure to be launched next year which willhelp industry, but in order to really kick start the market further financial support is required.

Russia

Administration of Nizhny Novgorod and Russian MachinesCompany, part of Basic Element, agreed to build a natural gasfueling station for public transportation in Nizhny. The signingtook place at the opening ceremony of the city’s first CNG station, whose construction was implemented by RM CNG(part of Russian Machines). The newly opened site is locatedat GAZ Group (also member of the corporation) plant and willserve the company’s service fleet. Municipal buses will also refuel there.

Construction of the second filling station, expected to be opened in the third quarter of 2017, will be a continuation ofthe Russian Machines project for development of refueling infrastructure for transport operated on the most economicaland environmentally friendly type of fuel. According to the roadmap, RM CNG will construct the new station, will supplythe main processing equipment and will commission the facility.

The new station will be designed to supply an uninterruptedsupply of natural gas to municipal operator Nizhegorod Passazhir Avtotrans – the city’s largest passenger carrier. In 2014, Nizhny Novgorod became a member of the federal program of supplying transport companies with buses running on natural gas. Under this program, the city acquired 144 LiAZ buses which will be deployed on urban routes in the near future. In 2016 and2017 the city plans to buy 500 additional CNG buses.

“Development of natural gas vehicles in Russia is one of thepriorities of the Russian Machines strategy. The process of alarge-scale transition of domestic urban transportation tousing methane hampers the lack of a modern station net-work. Construction of a new filling station in Nizhny Novgorodwill accelerate the conversion of the municipal bus fleet toCNG, reduce the cost of passenger transportation, and

improve the ecological situation in the city,” said Sergei Arzumanov, executive vice-president of Russian Machines.

Spain

HAM Group, Spanish leading company for LNG distribution,LNG regasification plant construction and natural gas refuelingstations, is finalizing the implementation of its latest public natural gas filling station in Abrera, near Barcelona, in thesame industrial park where the SEAT factory is located. Thisis Europe’s newest and largest motorway filling station.

This new facility, which supplies natural gas in two end uses,LNG and CNG, uses pioneering technology and is the largestin Europe. It features a total of eight bays, four of which areintended for refueling CNG-powered vehicles like the SEAT LeonTGI or the Mii Ecofuel, and another four for supplying LNG toheavy-duty vehicles. They also accommodate diesel fuelpumps.

In addition, its completely integrated operation enables running the station with traditional filling station managementsystems. With this new flagship filling station, HAM now hasten supply points of natural gas for vehicle use.

The HAM Group owns the first corporate fleet of compressed natural gas-powered SEAT Leon TGI vehicles, which left the Martorell factory last year.

In the last five years, sales of carspowered by natural gas have tripled in Europe, while they haveincreased six-fold in Spain in thesame period. Interest for com-pressed natural gas as an alternative fuel is still in its initialstages in Spain, and among otherfactors, the simultaneous launchof the SEAT Leon TGI and the MiiEcofuel in 2014 has been the driving force behind its growth anddevelopment nationally.

Spain has become the third largest market for SEAT in termsof CNG technology after Italy andGermany, and the positive results

Major agreement between SEAT and HAM will help boost sales of CNG-powered cars in Spain

Last July both companies signed a strategic agreement to promote this alternative fuelover the next two years. NGVs have increased six-fold in Spain during the last five yearsand the country has become the third largest market for SEAT in terms of natural gastechnology.

show no signs of easing. In the firstsix months of 2015, the Spanish carmaker sold more CNG-fuelled carsin Spain than in all of 2014. Thecompany ended last year as the undisputed leader in CNG vehiclesales in the Spanish market, and sixmonths into this year, its market leadership grew even more, reachinga total share of 80%.

To continue along these lines of development and support, Vice-President for Government andInstitutional Affairs for SEAT and theVolkswagen Group in Spain RamónParedes, and HAM Managing Director Antonio Murugó have signed

a strategic agreement to advancecompressed natural gas for vehicleuse over the next two years. This is aclear commitment by both compa-nies to this alternative fuel source forecological, sustainable energy thatwill ensure a significant short-termimprovement in air quality due to itsreduced emissions and low cost.

HAM Group Managing Director Antonio Murugó stated that “in ouropinion, CNG fuel is the well-established and much less expensive alternative to oil, whichguarantees a significant improvementin air quality owing to its low emissions. Our tremendous growth

enables us to develop state-of-the-arttechnology for cleaner energy, andone of our priorities is the new fillingstation which will soon be opened inAbrera with a definite commitment tosupplying natural gas for vehicle use”.

Furthermore, Vice-President for Government and Institutional Affairsfor SEAT and the Volkswagen Groupin Spain Ramón Paredes pointed outthat “SEAT’s commitment to sustainability is unwavering, and thisreality is gradually moving into themarkets where we operate. 66% ofworldwide SEAT sales and 80% ofthe sales in Spain are vehicles withCO2 emissions below 120 g/km.From 2006 to 2014 we reduced theaverage CO2 emissions by 21% onall the vehicles we sold in Europe. Inaddition, we are currently heavily engaged in developing compressednatural gas with a special focus onSpain, the country where we are theundisputed market leader”.

Gasnam held general assembly inBarcelona with SEAT and HAM

On July 21 the associationorganized the bimonthly GeneralAssembly at SEAT facilities inMartorell. SEAT is Gasnam partner since 2014 and is currently the only manufacturerof CNG-powered cars in Spain. At this meeting the association’snew members were ratified, reaching the number of 71, withsustained growth since January2014, when the figure was 30.

Moreover, Gasnam unveiled themodified logo with the inscriptionof “Iberian association” instead of“Spanish association”, due to thesignificant presence ofPortuguese partners. Followingthe conclusion of the meeting, attendees had the opportunity tovisit SEAT modern facilities, where they could see severalnatural gas vehicles in the production lines.

The Spanish automaker has produced more than 5,000

SEAT León TGI, the model CNGversion, mainly for Italy, Germanyand Spain. It is worth mentioningthat Spain occupies the 3rdplace in European demand forthe León TGI.

The day was completed with atest drive on a wide 30-km circuit, were all attendees coulddrive the León TGI and watchedlive the ease of CNG and LNGrefueling processes. This test

was developed at thepremises of HAM naturalgas station in Abrera, which is Europe’s largeststation supplying LNG totrucks. HAM is a foundingmember of Gasnam and isvice president for the landarea of the association.

Omnitek Engineering Corp. an-nounced that a 12-liter naturalgas engine manufactured byTEDOM s.r.o. Ltd. and equippedwith Omnitek’s proprietary naturalgas engine management systemhas received EURO 6 emissionscertification. TEDOM, an engineand bus manufacturer based inthe Czech Republic, is the com-pany’s exclusive OEM customer inthe region.

“The ability of Omnitek’s technologyto meet the Euro VI emissionsstandards represents an impor-tant strategic advantage to bothof our organizations. It shouldfurther accelerate demand for na-tural gas engines in Europe, aswell as other world regions thatrequire Euro VI certification, andwe are gratified to be an industryleader with our partner,” saidWerner Funk, president and chiefexecutive officer of Omnitek Engi-neering Corp.

“Euro 6 emissions certification is acompetitive advantage and not ea-sily achieved,” Funk said. Henoted that most countries manda-ting compliance with Euro 6 emis-sions standards have expensivediesel fuel costs, which are essen-tially unaffected by lower oil pricesdue to the high fuel tax compo-nent.

“This results in a large price deltabetween diesel and natural gasprices, which makes Euro 6-com-pliant natural gas engines particu-larly attractive to fleets operatingin these countries. It also solidi-fies Omnitek’s position as a globalleader in natural gas engine tech-

nology, and makes our sales momen-tum less dependent on domestic cus-tomers who might be inclined todelay converting heavy-duty diesel fle-ets to natural gas due to currentlower oil prices,” Funk added. He emphasized that even with loweroil prices, the company is still in ac-tive discussions with several large do-mestic fleet operators. Funk addedhe anticipates certain key projectscommencing in the near future, asfleet managers have now completedanalyzing the economic benefits of apay-back period of less than twoyears for diesel-to-natural gas engineconversions and also recognize theenvironmental considerations and re-lated compliance issues with meetingemissions mandates.

Natural gas-powered locomotives

Funk noted the company’s recent an-nouncement highlighting the utiliza-

tion of Omnitek’s system in twoTEDOM-powered natural gas locomo-tive engines powering a Czech Rail-ways train in a pilot program withscheduled service three times dailybetween the Czech cities of Opavaand Hlučín. The pilot program is see-king to demonstrate the economic, environmental and practical applica-tions of CNG for rail transportation.

“Reports from representatives of TheCzech Railway indicate the engineshave produced significant fuel savingsand a sharp reduction in emissions,as they operate on 100% naturalgas. We continue to support our cus-tomers with engine technology thatuses 100% natural gas, which offersmuch higher fuel savings potentialand lower emissions than diesel dual-fuel technology that utilizes a relati-vely small amount of natural gasmixed with diesel,” Funk said.

Omnitek and Tedom receive Euro 6 certification for new natural gas engineA strong demand for 12-liter engine is also expected, as Euro 6-compliant equips are particularly attractive to fleet operators. “This certification is a competitive advantage and not easily achieved,” commented Omnitek CEO Werner Funk.

Together with Air Liquide, FCA andCNH Industrial have launched aproject at Expo to promote the introduction of biomethane throughout infrastructure networks in Europe. Presently, inItaly, biomethane is still not accessible as a fuel to the public.

At Expo 2015, the central theme"Feeding the Planet, Energy forLife" is interpreted by both companies as an act of making informed choices, promoting sustainable lifestyles, using the latest technologies and finding abalance between availability andconsumption of resources. FCAhas provided a fleet of vehiclesthat includes 50 Fiat 500L Natural Power (methane/petrol)vehicles.

These vehicles are to be used bythe delegations of the participating

countries for car sharing activities.CNH Industrial's Iveco Bus brand hasprovided a fleet of seven Urbanway12-metre buses powered by environ-mentally-friendly compressed naturalgas (CNG) engines. These will beused for visitor transportation withinthe Expo site. All of these vehiclesare also equipped to run on biomethane.

CNH Industrial brand New HollandAgriculture is also present as theonly agricultural machinery manufacturer with its own pavilion atExpo, showcasing the Sustainablefarm with a biomethane tractor positioned on the roof of the building.

The project

The aim of the project in collaboration with Air Liquide is to demonstrate the potential environmental benefits generated

from the use of biomethane. FCA andCNH Industrial will promote the introduction of biomethane throughout Europe's natural gas distribution infrastructure network.

This quantity of biomethane is equivalent to approximately 70,000m3 worth of natural gas for Fiat vehicles and 270,000 m3 for thebuses provided by Iveco Bus at Expo2015. By using these quantities ofbiomethane in the place of naturalgas, over 100 tonnes of CO2 can besaved, which is equal to the absorption of a forest composed of140 trees throughout their life span.

While a vehicle fueled by natural gasalready offers important environmental benefits (reduction inCO2 and other polluting emissions),the project spotlights how the use ofbiomethane has the potential to beeven more sustainable: considering awell-to-wheel perspective, a vehiclepowered by biomethane derived fromagricultural waste, food or animalwaste, produces CO2 emissionswhich are comparable to that of anelectric vehicle fuelled using energyproduced from renewable sources.

"FCA started investing in natural gasvehicles in the 1990s and has sincebeen the leader in Europe, havingsold over 650,000 vehicles to date.Today we are at a turning pointwhere the combination of naturalgas, a concrete solution for sustainable mobility, and biomethane,a renewable source, can bring immediate benefits for the environment. In addition, these alternative fuels can also benefiturban mobility, municipalities and atthe same time help develop local economies," said Daniele Chiari FCA -EMEA Region – Head of ProductPlanning & Institutional Relations.

"Biomethane represents a clear solution for mobility that uses renewable sources to support it.

FCA, CNH Industrial and Air Liquide will boost biomethane deploymentFiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and CNH Industrial – Official Global Partners of ExpoMilano 2015 and European leaders in natural gas engine technology – announced in July anew partnership with Air Liquide focused on renewable natural gas.

CNH Industrial has long promotedthe use of biomethane which bringsbenefits in both environmental andeconomic terms. Iveco and Iveco Busalready offer a range of vehicleswhich run on natural gas that can already be fuelled using biomethane. To date, our Company has sold morethan 24,000 natural gas enginesand 14,000 natural gas commercialvehicles," said Sylvain Blaise Head ofIveco Bus at CNH Industrial.

Strong commitment

Both FCA and CNH Industrial arecommitted to providing sustainablemobility solutions for the various sectors in which they operate fromprivate and collective passengertransport to freight and agriculturalapplications. In the field of agriculture, CNH Industrial, throughits brand New Holland Agriculture, has promoted its Clean Energy Lea-der™ strategy since 2006 in orderto research viable alternatives to diesel such as biodiesel, biomass andbiomethane. This goes hand in handwith New Holland's focus on developing the concept of the EnergyIndependent Farm, where agriculturalwaste is recycled to contribute to theproduction of alternative fuel for themachinery and vehicles which operate on the fields.

These solutions must be practical aswell as bring forth benefits in termsof environmental sustainability. Inorder to achieve these goals, thecompanies actively work to involve allaspects of their respective supplychains in order to ensure an integrated approach with the commitment of all stakeholders.

"The Air Liquide Group is innovatingand developing solutions for responsible mobility based on renewable gas-based fuels such ashydrogen and natural gas for vehicles(compressed natural gas or liquefiednatural gas). Air Liquide masters theentire chain, from the production ofbiomethane to purification, liquefaction and the distribution ofBio-CNG via the infrastructure thatthe Group is currently rolling out, across Europe in particular", saidPierre Etienne Franc, Air Liquide VicePresident, advanced Business andTechnologies (aB&T).

New Holland tractor prototype in Italy

Located near the northern Italian city of Turin, 450-hectare La Bellottafarm has been testing a second-generation prototype of what will bethe first tractor to run on natural gas, the T6 by New HollandAgriculture. The technology will likely be attractive to farmers in manydeveloped economies, particularly those that are turning to the pro-duction of biofuel due to a squeeze on profits on food products.

“When the machinery is ready, I will be among the first customers,”said La Bellotta’s owner Luca Remmert recently at the farm, whereNew Holland was showing off the technology, scooping fermented biomass into the plant. The natural gas T6 model would hit productionin about five years, according to New Holland, subsidiary of CNHIndustrial NV.

Beyond cost savings, the new technology would be more environmentally friendly. The prototype produces 80% less pollutionthan a standard diesel tractor and would help fulfill future EU greenhouse gas targets, which are expected to require a 20% reduction across Europe by 2020, reported Associated Press.

The methane is generated through renewable biomass produced in thebiogas plant available on the farm. The T6.140 Methane Power, enjoysall of the features of a standard tractor and is equipped with a fourcylinder, three liter engine produced by FPT Industrial, and develops amaximum power of 135hp and 620Nm torque.

Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will supply liquefied natural gas to the region’s ships

The authority of this Spanish port was again chosen todevelop a new European project at its facilities with theaim to promote the use of LNG in transportation sys-tems and bunkering services in ports. The project invol-ves the design and installation of a mobile unitgenerating gas that will feature a 850kW natural gasgenerator engine and a fuel tank with gasification equip-ment.

Entry into service will allow ships to be supplied by thisLNG mobile unit rather than through the ship’s auxiliaryengines that consume heavy fuel and produce highernoise levels. It will also help reduce emissions of sulfuroxide, nitrogen oxide and other particles into the at-mosphere, improving air quality in port cities and redu-cing the sound level.

Submitted along with the ports of Vigo and Barcelona, this proposal was one of ten selected among the hun-dred brought to the notice 2014 CEF (Connecting Eu-rope Facility), resources the European Union allocatesto transport networks and infrastructure.

Under the specific term “Ro-Ro vessel with gas genera-ting mobile unit for hoteling,” and framed in the higherlevel initiative “Core LNGas Hive,” the realization of theproject will involve an excess of two million Euros invest-ment financed 50% with European funds. Just over onemillion will be invested in 2016, the first year of develop-ment.

Costa Cruises ordered industry’s first green LNG-powered ships

Costa announced an order to build two next-generation cruise ships, with the largest guest capacity in the world. Thenew ships will be built by Meyer shipyard in Turku, Finland, with delivery in 2019 and 2020. Each of them will exceed180,000 gross tonnage, offering more than 2,600 passenger cabins for a total of 6,600 passengers onboard, andwill feature a revolutionary LNG “green design”.

Costa order is part of a multibillion dollar contract with two Meyer shipyards in Turku and Papenburg (Germany), including also two new ships for Aida Cruises (German brand of Costa Group). The contract with Meyer is the result ofa larger previously announced memorandum of understanding between Carnival Corporation & plc, the home companyof Costa Group, and shipbuilders Meyer Werft, Meyer Turku and Fincantieri S.p.A. for nine new ships between 2019and 2022.

“The two Costa ships are real innovation for the market, setting new standards for the whole industry: they will be thefirst green ships powered with LNG and they will offer an extensive number of guest-friendly features,” said Neil Palomba, President of Costa Cruises.

Costa new ships will be the first in the cruise industry to use LNG in dual-powered hybrid engines to power the shipboth in port and on the open sea. LNG will be stored onboard the ships and used to generate 100% power at sea – producing another industry-first innovation for Costa. Using LNG to power the ships in port and at sea will significantly reduce exhaust emissions to help protect the environment and support the company’s aggressive sustainability goals.

The new order represents a remarkable opportunity also for Italy. According to Costa Cruises forecast, about 750Italian crewmembers are expected to be hired to work on the two ships. Furthermore Italy will be featured in the onboard guest experience: the new ships will be ambassadors of Italy’s finest at seas, allowing thousand of international guests to discover the excellence of the country.

Royal IHC and Wärtsilä develop world’sfirst LNG dual fuel dredger

A new generation “Antigoon” class dredger, called “ScheldtRiver”, being built by Royal IHC (IHC) in the Netherlands on behalf of the Belgium based DEME Group, is to be powered byWärtsilä dual-fuel (DF) engines. This will be the first ever dredger to operate on engines capable of utilizing either LNGor conventional marine fuels. The contract with Wärtsilä wassigned in July.

The 104 meter long vessel willhave a hopper volume capacity ofapproximately 8,000 cubic me-ters. The scope of supply includesone 12-cylinder and one 9-cylinderWärtsilä 34DF engines, twoWärtsilä controllable pitch propellers and two transverse thrusters as well as the company’s patented LNGPac gassupply and storage system.

“Wärtsilä’s unmatched experienceand extensive reference list indual-fuel engine applications, plusour complete solutions portfolio, were key considerations in theaward of this contract. We congratulate the shipyard and owners for taking the decision tohave this new dredger becomethe first to be capable of usingLNG or diesel fuel,” said Lars Anderson, Vice President, EngineSales, Wärtsilä Marine Solutions.

“Environmental considerations areextremely important for every newvessel built today. Operating onLNG allows DEME to set new standards in minimizing harmfulemissions. “Scheldt River” will ea-sily comply with all local and international environmental regulations. Wärtsilä’s dual-fuelknow-how and in particular the34DF engine series made ourconcept feasible,” commented JanGabriël, Head of New Building andConversion Department at DEME.

H2 transportationToyota Mirai: first mass produced hydrogen fuel cell sedan arrives in Europe

Hydrogen powered Hyundai reaches new distance record in Germany

The first production of Toyota Mirai – meaning “the future”in Japanese – destined for the European market has arrived, and is here to pioneer the next step in clean mobility, using hydrogen as fuel and emitting nothing butwater vapor. The first five Mirai cars were unloaded in Bristol, UK and Zeebrugge, Belgium, respectively on 8 and10 August.

“This marks the debut of a new age for clean mobility – aturning point in the history of automobiles. With Mirai, To-yota is working on bringing clean, safe and enjoyable mobility for the next 100 years, thanks to fuel cell technology. We are looking forward to the start of deliveryof the first Mirai to customers from September and to seethe future taking shape on European roads. We are proud to bring yet another groundbreaking innovation to Europe with Mirai”, said Karl Schlicht, Executive Vice-President Toyota Motor Europe.

The Toyota Mirai is the world’s first mass-produced fuel cell sedan. After its first public display in Europe in Marchat the Geneva Motor Show, marks its debut on European ground. Already sold in Japan since last December, theToyota Mirai will be launched in Europe from September in the UK, Denmark and Germany.

Mirai uses the pioneering Toyota Fuel Cell System (TFCS), which features both fuel cell technology and hybridtechnology, and includes Toyota’s new proprietary fuel cell stack and high-pressure hydrogen tanks.

Two hydrogen pioneers have taken real-world zero-emission motoring to a new level by driving a Hyundaiix35 Fuel Cell 2,383 kilometers in 24 hours. Arnt-Gøran Hartvig (Sports Scientist) and Marius Bornstein(Master of Physics) traveled around the clock on public roads in Germany, emitting nothing but watervapor from the ground-breaking fuel cell vehicle.

To achieve this impressive distance, the two Norwegians covered the +300-kilometer route between Vatenfall’s hydrogen station in HafenCity,Hamburg and a Shell hydrogen station in Sachsendamm, Berlin as many times as possible in24 hours. Refueling the car takes as little as three minutes, enabling the drivers to maximize the distance covered.

Hartvig and Bornstein’s route included city driving as well as high-speed roads, demonstrating the suitability of theHyundai ix35 Fuel Cell for everyday use in all situations. “We wanted to see what the combination of a state of artfuel cell electric vehicle and hydrogen refueling station are capable of today. The result is stunning,” stated theteam after accomplishing their journey.

This achievement by the two eco-pioneers is the latest in a series of epic challenges to showcase the potential offuel cell technology. In June last year the duo chose the ix35 Fuel Cell to travel a record 700 kilometers on onetank of hydrogen. They have also driven from Oslo to Monaco, refueling only at the hydrogen stations already installed along the 2,260-kilometre route.

TOTAL station launches first public hydrogen fueling service in Munich

The TOTAL Multi-Energy fuelling station inDetmoldstrasse, Munich, opened its doors to driversof hydrogen-powered fuel-cell cars. Equipped with innovative refueling technology from Linde, the stationis now home to the only public hydrogen fuelling service in the Bavarian state capital.

Linde was commissioned by TOTAL and BMW, whichwill be the station’s main user, to install its high-pressure cryogenic hydrogen pumps (or cryopumps) at this site. The technology was developed in-house by Linde and is designed to direct-ly compress cryogenic liquid hydrogen stored at -253degrees Celsius. “We are harnessing our expertise incryogenic gases to reduce the amount of energy andstorage space required at an integrated multi-energystation,” explained Andreas Opfermann, Head ofTechnology & Innovation at Linde.

Fuel-cell drive technology enables electric cars to bedriven over long distances with short refueling windows and zero tailpipe emissions. Under theumbrella of the Clean Energy Partnership (CEP), thenew H2 fueling station will, for instance, supply demo

fuel-cell cars based on the BMW 5 Series GranTurismo.

With Linde’s technology, the station can offer two different fueling technologies at separate pumps.Drivers can choose between industry-standard 700bar compressed gaseous hydrogen (at -40 degreesCelsius) and cryo-compressed hydrogen at -233degrees Celsius (pressurized at up to 300 bars). Thislast technique is suited to the pressurized cryogenictanks in BMW fuel-cell cars.

Notes: The column ‘theoretical monthly consumption’ is calculating total monthly consumption if cars consume 180, buses 3000, trucks 800, and other vehicles 50 Nm3 per month. There is, of course, a huge difference between different truck types. A 44 ton truck may consume up to 8000 (not 800) Nm3 per month.
