Confrontation of Grace (Luke 6:6-10)Luke 5:24-ff

The evidence of authority is embedded in the actions of Jesus.

“watching Him closely to see if he healed on the Sabbath.” • watch ... with sinister intent.

The Pharisees perceived the Law of God concerning the Sabbath as what you must not do. But for Jesus the Sabbath is about what you may do. You may keep the Sabbath holy - a gift to be welcomed rather than a curse to be endured.

To fail to do good when you have the chance is the same as doing evil. To fail to save a life when you can is the same as destroying life.

This is the difference in the law for the sinner and the saved. For the sinner the law is summarized in "Don't sin!"

But for the saved the law is summarized in "Love God!" It convicts and condemns the condemned and demonstrates the freedom of the redeemed .
