T he fo rm a tio n of thisvaluable network takes time to.develop and maintain, as it serves as a constantly evolvingnetwork.

    In January 2013, the City began recrui t ing for th e position of a part t ime EmergencyManagement Coordinator. As we finalized this extensive recruitment process, it wasdetermined that attracting an d maintaining a competent Emergency Management Coordinator ina part t ime capacity (as approved by the F Y 2012/2013 budget)brings operat ional challenges.Due to the fact that there are many opportunities for full time employment and additionalopportunities fo r consultation,an d teaching in the e m e rg e nc y m a nag e m e nt field, hiring a parttime Emergency Management Coordinator w ould m os t likely result in th e employee committingto outside e m p l o y m e n t 'andaking his /her availability during an emergency event less reliable.
