Deepal, we got some reliable info that a LTTE group with 45-50 special trained cadres (Incl Recee/Suicidal) is in gen area GALKULAMA and they are awaiting to launch an attk on Air Base ANP and to spoil the supplies to Wanni forward tps which will bring us very bad repercussions. Remember they have the past experiences in attk the air strip and they have the luxury of carders who have involved for the last attk too. They live in mud huts disguised as civ. Anyhow I have info my snr IO to stumble on all poss gr int by tasking his men at ANP int cell and you can get pictorial briefing from him. You have to conduct this Op less 1 x Coy since I need 1x Coy for any eventuality. Keep in mind that I do not want any civ cas. Since you are well-known with the terrain, you may carry out a quick map recce and limited gr recce, but remember no mov beyond N-44 at any cost. You may make use whichever SF camps in the area as your fwd base, but better to plan on KALATTEWA SLAC camp (GR 673447) as your launching pad, its only a option that I’m giving you. a. LTTE hideouts loc at GSQ 7139.b. Strength is 20-30 Special cadres (incl Recee/suicidal) c. Info received from GS in Kalaoya says that a resident has been subjected to an amputation due to walking over an AP mine whilst collecting fire-wood.d. Max surveillances on A12 in liaison with their sympathisers.e. Cadres rest inside the hide out during dark hrs (after 2100 hrs) and leave the hideout in the morning after the breakfast.f. They are well trained on Explosives /IEDs handing. Though they are hardcore cadres, will try to live another day to fight.g. Some Civilians in the area are sympathises but LTTE has own early warnings along the A12 rd.h. Cadres have SAs, disposable RPGs, Comm Eqpts, A tk msls and NVDs. i. LTTE has the capability of reinforcing 10 to 15 cadres witin lhr from WILPATTU area of the obj, through the WILPATTU jungles.
