John Campbell is laid to rest at Ford Park Cemetery in Plymouth Devon • Although he was only 17 at the Battle of Waterloo he went on to have

a glittering career in the Army and reached the rank of Lt General.

• After the British had held Quatre Bras from the French over the 16th & 17th of June. Wellington pulled back his men to a piece of landed he had scouted out a year before. It was perfect for fighting the French as it provided good shelter and a good defensive position. This was near a place called Waterloo.

Typical Infantry Uniform worn at WaterlooFollowing the heavy rain on the night of the 17th June 1815. This uniforms would have been covered in mud and the men soaked to the skin, tired hungry and really not best prepared to fight.
