BIOGRAPHY U N I T E D S T A T E S A I R F O R C E LIEUTENANT COLONEL JONATHAN D. BUSCH Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Busch is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 128, based at the University of Delaware. He commands a team of five cadre, responsible for over 80 cadets from the University of Delaware, Delaware State University, Delaware Technical College, and Wilmington University. Lt Col Busch grew up in Portland, Oregon and earned his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 1999. He is a command pilot with more than 3,000 flight hours in the C-130E, C-130H, C-21A and T-1, flying missions including tactical airlift, formation airdrop, aeromedical evacuation operations, and student pilot training. Lt Col Busch has flown over 500 hours of Combat and Combat Support time in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM PHILLIPINES. His wife, Christine Busch, is from Aberdeen, Scotland. They have three children; Elijah (8), Hannah (6), and Ezra (1). CHRONOOGY OF DUTIES: 1. July 2018 – Present, Commander AFROTC Det 128, University of Delaware. 2. July 2017 – July 2018, Inspector General (IG) AFCENT. Responsible for oversight and guidance of Inspections, Exercises and Complaints Resolution for five Air Expeditionary Wing IGs and execution of CFACC’s Inspection Program. 3. January 2017 – July 2017, Inspector General 47 th Flying Training Wing. Led an IG team of 6, utilizing a 71- member Wing Inspection Team to execute Inspections & Exercises across 17 units. Also, responsible for fair and impartial resolution to all IG complaints. 4. June 2016 – January 2017, Director of Operations (DO) 86 th Flying Training Squadron. Was second in command of 70 Instructor Pilot squadron, managed 48 aircraft to graduate over 212 pilots annually. 5. May 2015 – June 2016, Assistant Director of Operations 86 th Flying Training Squadron. Assisted leadership in supervision of squadron, executed an annual 19,000 flight hour program. Provided oversight and standardization of 4 flights. 6. July 2014 – May 2015, Pilot Instructor Training (PIT) Randolph Air Force Base. Instructor qualification training in the T-1A aircraft. 7. Jan 2014 – July 2014, Assistant Director of Operations, Detachment 2 Air Force Operational Test & Evaluation Center. Assisted Commander and Director of Operations in leading 95 military and civilian personnel in executing operational tests for 30+ acquisition programs worth $44B. 8. April 2012 – Jan 2014, Chief, Mission Support Division, Detachment 2 Air Force Operational Test & Evaluation Center. Led a 12-member support division team providing communications, computer, logistics, personnel, training and test support to Detachment. 9. March 2011 – April 2012, Air Force Operational Test & Evaluation Center Test Director. Responsible for test planning and execution of 3 CBRNE acquisition programs. 10. May 2010 – March 2011, Installation Command Center (ICC) Director/C-21A Instructor Pilot. Directed base plans for three wings, executing Commander’s directives during exercises and real-world events, such as the wing response to the Iceland volcano explosion grounding all European flights. 11. May 2009 – May 2010, 76 th Airlift Squadron Chief of Safety/C-21A Instructor Pilot. Responsible for the execution of the Squadron Commander’s Safety Program and investigated safety mishaps. 12. November 2007 – March 2011, C-21A Instructor Pilot. Flew DV airlift and aeromedical evacuations across Europe and the Horn of Africa for the 76 Airlift Squadron, Ramstein AB Germany.
