LSU Delta Chi - Mothers' Club

6
Dear Mothers of Delta Chi Members: My name is Bradley Guin and I'm the Alumni Secretary of the LSU Chapter of Delta Chi. I recently reached out to parents of Delta Chi brothers about the alumni crawfish boil, and would like to extend a more unique invitation today. After a discussion at a recent chapter meeting, it was decided that a Mothers' Club needs to be formed for the LSU Chapter to provide parents the opportunity for ongoing support of their son’s fraternity experience and to collaborate with other parents who have similar interests. Recognizing that many parents of undergraduate members are directly involved, and certainly interested, in the academic and social lives of their children, Delta Chi is committed to serving as an important outlet for parents to continue to be involved in their son's lives throughout their college years. We believe that a Mothers' Club would be beneficial to both the chapter and to parents. Increased involvement from parents and stronger chapter-parent ties is certain to lead to invaluable opportunities to interact with your son's chapter and likeminded parents. I've attached a brief program detailing some of the expectations of a Mothers' Club, Delta Chi's values, and my contact information. If you're interested in becoming a founding member of the Mothers' Club or if you have any questions, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you and to the many things the Mothers' Club will accomplish. Thanks, Bradley Guin Accountability & Student Interest, LSU Student Government Alumni Secretary, LSU ΔX [email protected]

PREAMBLE

“We, the members of The Delta Chi Fraternity, believing that great advantages are to be derived from a brotherhood of college and university men, appreciating that close association may promote friendship, develop character, advance justice, and assist in the acquisition of a sound education, do ordain and establish this Constitution.”

PURPOSE

To provide the mothers/step mothers/legal guardians of undergraduate members the opportunity for ongoing support of their son’s fraternity experience in Delta Chi and to collaborate with other parents who have similar interests.

RATIONALE

Many parents of undergraduate members are directly involved, and certainly interested, in the academic and social lives of their children; they have been intimately involved at every step of their son’s growth and development. In addition, many undergraduate members would welcome the involvement of their parents and recognize the true sincerity and commitment demonstrated by them. Delta Chi recognizes this unique opportunity for support. Parents may provide a valuable resource for programming and support at various levels. Delta Chi can be an important outlet for parents to continue to be involved in their son’s lives throughout their college years.

• Event Programming Delta Chi hosts numerous events throughout the fall and spring semesters, ranging from tailgates to philanthropy events – all of which could utilize invaluable support and programming from parents

• Membership Recruitment Formal recruitment in the fall and spring semesters is an especially important tool for Delta Chi, and participation from parents can aid our efforts in recruiting potential members
