Panic!!!

• Message went out in early Dec 2010(!), calling for all 22 academic departments to submit all research post-2007… by mid January

• We’ve so far catalogued 2,500+ new citations, an increase of 10%+ of the total size of LSE RO.

Actually, don’t panic

• Responding to the call out made us realise we could do it!

• We had to find resources and capacity to do the work.

• High priority nature of the work meant these resources were found.

Benefits• LSERO now a strategic priority for the School.• Fostered productive relationships with Research

Division, DMs, and individual academics.• New contacts within the School.• Has focussed our development priorities. • “Interesting” feedback on LSERO from a variety

of stakeholders.

Conclusion• LSERO now (finally) at the heart of School

affairs.• It is possible to up the throughput of records

to an IR in short order, with development goals to match.

• We are in good shape going forward, but similar events likely to occur again.
