Presentation Notes
When you pull up the site it will look something like this… LR2000 is a searchable database for public reports on BLM land and mineral use authorizations, conveyances, withdrawals and most importantly for our discussion today, mining claims. This website enables the user to access the same information over the internet as in the BLM State Office Information Access Centers. You may ask, what does LR stand for? You may think it stands for Land Records. However, it actually stands for Legacy Rehost. There is a handout for you in the binder titled LR2000 Reports for Mining Claim Recordation, and we will be going through those four reports today.

Presentation Notes
For the serial number list, Select lead file number, Yes or No. 2) You can retrieve a serial register page for an individual serial number by entering the serial number in ALL CAPITALS, no spaces. For example, NMC75973 as shown in the slide here and click apply. 3) If the serial number you enter is a lead serial number, the report will display all serial numbers associated with the lead serial number in separate serial register pages. 4) When the SRP is displayed, you may convert it to PDF format by clicking on the red Adobe icon in the upper right corner. And just to summarize, the serial register page will list all data that is in a mining claim by serial number, including the case type, claim name, lead file number, claimant or claimants, geographic information, location date, and all actions entered for the claim in LR2000.

Example of the format: 21 0100N 0350E 013 represents Mt. Diablo Meridian, Township 10 North,

Range 35 East, Section 13

Presentation Notes
Next we will move on to the trickier part. You will manually enter the legal land descriptions you would like to search by clicking select value next to where it says “Meridian Township Range” or where it says “Meridian Township Range Section” if you want to include specific sections in your search. Then type the legal land descriptions you would like to search, only one for each search, using the the format shown here: 21 0100N 0350E 013. You must enter the format exactly as shown here or the system will not accept it. If there are any extra numbers or spaces or missing numbers or spaces your search will return no results or incorrect results. Also, some areas do not have any mining claims on record so a search with no results may be correct – that is why it can get tricky. After you have selected all of this criteria, click OK.

This is an example of the result for the filters used on the previous page. The BLM does not maintain a map of where active claims are located. You can use this information to determine how many claims are located in a quarter section, but not exactly where the claims are. You can call the State Office Public Room or come into the public room, to inquire about pulling the maps of the appropriate claims, if available. And although the BLM does not maintain a map of where all the active claims are located, some counties will out claims on the master title plat – however, they do not remove closed claims from the maps so the maps can be convoluted.

Some additional functions to note are: There are three different views for this page. The default view displays the List of Mining Claims by Section, which is what saw on the previous slide. The additional views are the Mining Claims by Claimant Address and the Banner Page. You can click on the down arrow at the top to change the view. You can click on the serial numbers of each of the claims listed to review the serial register page for that claim. And at the very bottom of the page you can print the report, or export the report as a PDF or Excel document for your use.

Now if you know the GPS coordinates but you do not know the Public Land Survey System or the rectangular survey system description, a resource that is available on the internet is called Earth Point. Earth Point uses Google Earth’s imaging, and layers the PLSS on top of your GPS coordinates. Some of the features are free, and some of the features require a paid subscription, but it’s just helpful to know what is out there as a resource.

The third report we’ll look at is the Public MC Claim Name/Number Index. This index is used to find claim information by claim name. The first step is to select the Pub MC Claim Name/Number Index from the menu. There are two views for this report: By Claim Name and By County.

You will select NV as the admin state. For the Claim name/number, using capital letters, enter a portion of the claim name or number. For example, to find the HOPE MINE, enter HOPE or HOPE MINE. And you will also select the disposition – active, closed, pending or all. These are the only three mandatory criteria, and the other criteria are optional, if you want to further limit your search. Just as a word of warning – if you ask for too much information – like all claims in Nevada – that will tie up the system and your own computer.

Presentation Notes
Here is an example of the results – it will return all claims that contain the name “HOPE”, in alphabetical order. Using the Down arrow at the top of the screen, you can sort the result by county, instead of by claim name. You can also click on each individual serial number to view the serial register page. Essentially, this report is helpful if you know the claim name you are looking for, but not the claim number. If you had the claim number, you would go straight to the Mining Claim Serial Register Page Report.

The last report we’ll look at is the Public MC Customer Info Report. This report is used to find claims related to a specific customer. This report lists all claims that are associated with a claimant’s name within an administrative state, county, district office and field office. Step One – Select Pub MC Customer Info from the reporting menu.

Presentation Notes
For this report, the mandatory criteria are the Administrative State, the claimant name, and the disposition, active, closed, pending, or all. For the claimant name, use all CAPS, and if you are looking for an individual, start with the last name (not the first name.) For a company, be as conservative as possible. In my example here, I put simply BARRICK in the search box. This will capture Barrick, Barrick Gold, Barrick Goldstrike, etc. And then click Next to proceed.

You can further refine your search by adding a Meridian, Township, Range or Meridian, Township, Range, Section using the exact formatting that we discussed before. The instructions above the search box will remind you of the formatting. This is optional though, not required. Hit next again.

I hope this was helpful.   As you are in each report, there is a User Guide at the top. If you click where you see the question mark and user guide, it will walk you through the steps for that report.   Also, if you encounter problems, our Nevada State Office public room is more than willing to assist you. I have included the contact information here.   Are there any questions?
