Albemarle Low Temperature Chemistry
Albemarle Fine Chemistry Services has helped customers complete many successful projects
through a powerful combination of proven chemistry expertise, game-changing process
development and scale-up, high-quality custom manufacturing and exceptional service. From
innovative R&D, process development to convert a batch process into a continuous process or to
commercial-scale production, we deliver the knowledge, experience, resources, creativity and service
you need to move products to market faster and accelerate your business.
Albemarle has a history in low temperature chemistry with success at four of our manufacturing
facilities. Our facilities are well-equipped to provide contract R&D, custom synthesis and cGMP or
non-cGMP custom manufacturing, including cGMP polymers. Our lean and flexible organization can
provide a swift response for all of your fine chemicals needs. We have the appropriate reactors to
function within a low temperature environment, with some reactors operating as low as -100C.
CRYOGENIC ARYL LITHIUM ADDITION TO AN ALDEHYDE
An intermediate for a drug candidate produced at the 1000 gallon scale.
1) THF, -60C
2)nBuLi
CRYOGENIC ARYL LITHIUM ADDITION TO A CHLOROPHOSPHITE
An intermediate for a drug candidate produced at the 2700 gallon scale.
1) THF, -90C
2) nBuLi
Targeted investments in these cryogenic reaction systems position us well to develop and scale-up reactions to make APIs and late-stage pharmaceutical intermediates, allowing us to better serve our customers needs and ensure the success of all their projects.
