Catfish is produced by Relativity Media and Rogue Pictures which is are not well known companies. However, it was picked up and distributed by Universal Pictures and this is why it was seen. Other films that these companies have produced are ‘21 and over’ and ‘Dear john’ which are films that people do know of but haven’t been the most successful. The main genre that these companies produces are action/adventure and we can see this as they produce ‘The Spy Next Door’ and ‘Skyline’. Relativity Media and Rogue Pictures has a clear target audience and this is adults.

22 Jump Street was produced by Columbia Pictures which is also a well known company. Other films that Columbia Pictures have produced are ‘The Amazing Spider-man’ which was one of the most successful movies of all time. The main genre that Columbia Pictures produces is action/adventure and we can see this as they have produced ‘James Bond’, ‘Tintin’ and ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’. Columbia Pictures varies its audiences. There are many films that are for adults however there are some cartoons for children.
Low Budget vs. High Budget
The low budget film is a documentary meaning it will cost less money to produce. This is because they use real people, real props and real settings. Also, the low budget film will have lots of different companies to produce it and distribute it, whereas the high budget film will have one large company to produce it all. The high budget film is a sequel and the first film is very successful so the first film will already have been paid off. 22 jump street has been very successful and has definitely outperformed catfish. Catfish is criticised a lot for its realism as many people believe that it was set up.
