Loving God Loving People Growing Together Moving Forward
Faith Connections
I am excited to share with you our plan to reopen our church facility and make our
way back to normal mission and ministry. You will see that that there are four phases to
this process and that the fourth phase has all restrictions lifted. You will also notice that
there are no dates associated with the phases, that is because we will not know when we
will begin Phase 1 until after we have further direction from the Governor and the Bishop.
With statewide directives due to expire on June 15, I expect the Governor will give further
direction around that date as to whether or not the state will move to Phase 2 of the Presi-
dent’s Guidelines for Reopening and that the Bishop will give guidelines for the conference
within a few days of the Governor’s statement. To give some general guidance of what
might happen, we are looking at entering Phase 1 of our plan around the end of June or the
beginning of July (subject to change based on state and federal guidelines). I also want to
thank those of our church family leaders who gave input on this plan to help get it ready for
presentation to entire church family and community.
Plan for RUMC phased reopening of facilities:
Phase 1: Drive in worship continues on Sunday morning. Groups of 25 or less (or groups
who have subgroups of 25 or less like scouts) who meet in the facility during the week
resume meeting. Each group (and sub-group where applicable) will be instructed on which
entrance and rest room to use as well as using disinfectant (aerosol, spray or wipes) on the
space(s) they have used before they leave.
Phase 2: Midweek groups of 25 or less continue to meet. Sunday School classes begin to
meet on alternating Sundays with drive in worship (one week Sunday School, the following
week worship). Due to size, the John Wesley Class will need to meet in the fellowship hall.
Both children’s classes will meet together. Parents/grandparents will meet children at the
designated entrance for the children’s class. Each Sunday School class will be instructed on
which entrance and restroom to use as well as using disinfectant (aerosol, spare or wipes)
on space(s) used before they leave.
Phase 3: Midweek groups of 25 or less continue to meet. Worship in the sanctuary resumes
and Sunday School classes meet every Sunday. Designated entrances and restrooms
continue as well as use of disinfectant (aerosol, spray, wipes) by each group before they
leave their space(s).
Phase 4: Normal programming resumes without restrictions. Wednesday Night Suppers
resume. Disinfectant (aerosol, spray or wipes) use encouraged before leaving spaces, but
not required. Continued on pg. 2

Church Activities & Events:
Due to the uncertainty of what is going on with COVID-19, we cannot list what
church activities will happen or not happen. As of the date of this newsletter
posting, all church activities through June 15th have been canceled. If you are
involved with Happy Hearts, Scouts, Men’s Bible Study or Wednesday Night
Suppers, these events will NOT take place. Please listen for or look for
information from the church on updates about when we can meet again as a church
family through email or One Call Now notifications. We will not be able to
publish a calendar, so check the website calendar if you are unsure of an event. If
you have a need, please call us and we will try to help (826-5796). Leave a message
if we do not answer and we will call you back. The office has abbreviated hours,
but messages and emails are checked regularly.

Good Things are Still Happening:
The Parsonage renovation is almost complete!! We are excited to have an open house in the
future to allow you to see the wonderful new Parsonage kitchen.
The Sanctuary Video System is being put in place and we hope to have this completed soon.
The rationale behind designated entrances and restrooms for small groups is
that it limits contact within the building and when multiple groups are meeting at the
same time it limits contact between groups, thereby limiting the possibility of spread-
ing germs between groups. The rationale behind using disinfectant before leaving a
room is that the room is prepared for the next group to use it by eliminating any pos-
sible germs brought in by the current group. Unless social distancing drags out into
the Fall, the plan is wait until all limitations are lifted before reentering the sanctuary.
I understand that for some this plan will seem to move too slowly for others it
will seem to move too quickly. With so many of our church family in a higher risk
group we are proceeding cautiously. We all want to be together again as soon as pos-
sible, and when we gather we want to be able hug necks, shake hands and greet each
other without the limitation of restrictions. Continue to pray for me and all of our
church leaders as we seek to lead through this with Godly wisdom. Please let me
know any questions you have.
Thank you all for being so understanding and for being an awesome church family!
Looking Forward,
Brother Michael

Unto the Least of His ~ Great Things are still happening! Bobby & Nancy Gale have returned home from their trips and are doing well. They have been in contact with
many of their ministry partners around the globe and here are some of the wonderful things that are happen-
ing to many of the Least of His: new pipes are added to wells to serve more people, a solar pump added to a
well provides pure healthy water, boxes of Bibles are being sent by riverboat to students, and new dresses for
beautiful young ladies have been received that were lovingly sewn by churches. Please keep the Congo and
Samburu in your prayers as many more challenges are faced including locust and water shortages. Also keep
Bobby and Nancy in your prayers as they continue their ministry.
