As I am utilizing Dr. Teykl’s Book, Acts 29: Fifty Days to Invite the Holy Spirit, in my own prayer times my eyes are being opened to specific areas in our church family life and in our community for which we should be praying and specific people in our community for whom to pray. Whether you started on Pentecost Sunday or sometime later, whether you have been able to pray everyday or have missed a few days, I am thankful that we are on this journey of prayer together. I look forward to what God is going to continue to do in our church family and community as we continue to be united in prayer and free the Holy Spirit to do marvelous things here. You have probably noticed that a new accessibility ramp is being added to the front of the fellowship hall. This project is able to be completed through the generosity of our church family in giving to this special need. You may not know that there are two other projects that the trustees have in the fund raising stage. The first is the addition of screens to our worship space. Since video is so much a part of what we do now, the addition of permanently mounted screens into our worship space is becoming a real need. Vacation Bible School, mission reports, even funerals utilize video as part of the service. I don’t have the exact figures in front of me, but we have approximately have 38% of the $8,000 needed to complete this project already donated. The second is remodeling the kitchen in the parsonage. Our family is very thankful to the trustees for planning this remodel and to all who give to help make it happen. This project will cost approximately $15,000 and we have already on hand approximately $3,500 toward this goal. More details will be coming in the bulletin and next month’s newsletter on these projects. Even though as I write this article it is the middle of July, Fall will be here before we know it. I know that you are looking forward with me to resuming our Wednesday Night Suppers and our study that goes along with the suppers. As of right now we do not have fundraiser suppers planned which means we will be reverting the schedule of two suppers each month (1st and 3rd Wednesday). If you would like to host a supper as a fundraiser or just help us gather more than twice a month please speak with Ty to get on the schedule. I am in the process of choosing what we will be studying and should have a decision in the next couple of weeks. Look for information in your bulletin. Finally, let me tell you again that I love you and I love being your pastor! It is pure joy for me to see members of our church family working together to do so much good. Whether it is sewing clothes for Bobby Gale to take to children in Africa, or prepping and pouring a new accessibility ramp for the fellowship hall, sewing quilts for children at Vashti, organizing and participating in our second Oconee Outreach Opportunity Effingham, Vacation Bible School, the youth trip to Orlando, Happy Hearts, or any of another of other things we are doing together, my heart swells with the love that fills our church family. Loving God Loving People Growing Together Moving Forward

Faith Connections August 2019

I hope that you are receiving as much blessings from our church family praying

together through the Book of Acts as I am. As I am utilizing Dr. Teykl’s Book, Acts 29: Fifty Days to

Invite the Holy Spirit, in my own prayer times my eyes are being opened to specific areas in our

church family life and in our community for which we should be praying and specific people in our

community for whom to pray. Whether you started on Pentecost Sunday or sometime later,

whether you have been able to pray everyday or have missed a few days, I am thankful that we are

on this journey of prayer together. I look forward to what God is going to continue to do in our

church family and community as we continue to be united in prayer and free the Holy Spirit to do

marvelous things here.

You have probably noticed that a new accessibility ramp is being added to the front of the

fellowship hall. This project is able to be completed through the generosity of our church family in

giving to this special need. You may not know that there are two other projects that the trustees

have in the fund raising stage. The first is the addition of screens to our worship space. Since video

is so much a part of what we do now, the addition of permanently mounted screens into our

worship space is becoming a real need. Vacation Bible School, mission reports, even funerals utilize

video as part of the service. I don’t have the exact figures in front of me, but we have approximately

have 38% of the $8,000 needed to complete this project already donated. The second is remodeling

the kitchen in the parsonage. Our family is very thankful to the trustees for planning this remodel

and to all who give to help make it happen. This project will cost approximately $15,000 and we

have already on hand approximately $3,500 toward this goal. More details will be coming in the

bulletin and next month’s newsletter on these projects.

Even though as I write this article it is the middle of July, Fall will be here before we know

it. I know that you are looking forward with me to resuming our Wednesday Night Suppers and

our study that goes along with the suppers. As of right now we do not have fundraiser suppers

planned which means we will be reverting the schedule of two suppers each month (1st and 3rd

Wednesday). If you would like to host a supper as a fundraiser or just help us gather more than

twice a month please speak with Ty to get on the schedule. I am in the process of choosing what we

will be studying and should have a decision in the next couple of weeks. Look for information in

your bulletin.

Finally, let me tell you again that I love you and I love being your pastor! It is pure joy for

me to see members of our church family working together to do so much good. Whether it is

sewing clothes for Bobby Gale to take to children in Africa, or prepping and pouring a new

accessibility ramp for the fellowship hall, sewing quilts for children at Vashti, organizing and

participating in our second Oconee Outreach Opportunity Effingham, Vacation Bible School, the

youth trip to Orlando, Happy Hearts, or any of another of other things we are doing together, my

heart swells with the love that fills our church family. This is why I am so excited for all that God

has in store for us as we are Loving God, Loving People, Growing Together and Moving Forward

to God’s glory .

Looking Forward, Brother Michael

News from the Missions & Christian Education Director By Ty LaValley

Fourteen youth participated in a great summer experience at Camp Daniel Boone in North

Carolina, through our Scouting ministry. The older boys white water rafted three separate

rivers, built trust in the high ROPES course and braved the zip lines. Others honed their

outdoor skills in the first year camper program or the wilderness survival experience.

Closer to home, we are getting ready for a new school year and the church programming that

goes along with it. Wednesday night dinners will resume on the first and third Wednesdays

beginning in September. Pastor Michael will lead a Bible study on the days when there is a

meal. Promotion Sunday is August 11th.

On a personal note, my ministry in the secular setting is changing this school year. I am

moving from South Effingham Middle School to assist in a GNETS classroom at the Rincon

Learning Center. I will be working with children with Emotional/Behavioral Disorder.

Remember: wherever God plants us, that is where we are to be Jesus’s hands and feet.

Yours in Christian Service,

In Christ, Ty LaValley

God of wisdom and might, we

praise you for the wonders of

our being, for mind, body, and

spirit.

Be with our children as they

begin a new school year.

Bless them and their teachers

and staff.

Give them strength and grace

as they grow in wisdom and

knowledge, as they search for

understanding, and peace and an enthusiasm in their spirits.

Be with our teachers as they begin a new school year.

Bless them and their students and parents.

Give them your peace and patience as they impart wisdom and

knowledge; as they give understanding and love to each of the lives

entrusted to them.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
