CLUB NEWS

W. Michael Fritz President

In my first article as your President I asked you “Do you know how good the ACC is? Do you know how good we can be?” In this, my last article as your President, I would like to highlight some of our accomplishments this past year.

We have a very active, engaged membership. I have enjoyed meeting many of our new members at the monthly new member orientation meetings. Our special events continue to be very well attended. This year we have had 3 different Candlelight Dinner dates. Martinis and Misletoe was a great success!

As a resolution for the New Year, consider becoming active on a club Committee. The Committee structure is essential to our governance process and allows members to be actively involved in the areas members have the most interest in. In February, your new President Tim D’Angelo will be working with Paul Kroll and the Board to add new members

to committees and establish goals for the 2016-2017 Board year. If you have an interest in getting involved in a club committee, please reach out to Tim or Paul.

Our financial operations continue to be very strong. For the first 4 months of our current fiscal year, our operating income has exceeded plan, which will provide additional cash flow for our future capital expenditures. The Board has asked the Facilities Committee to work with our design consultant and architecture firms to give us a 1st floor plan for review by our February Board meeting. We are currently in process of doing a major refresh of our 6th floor sleeping rooms by utilizing our club maintenance staff. I think you will be presently surprised with how these rooms will look like when completed.

I am confident that next year’s president, Tim D’Angelo and the Board will be able to continue to maintain the strong momentum into 2017. I would like to give special thanks to Joe Patrick, who will be completing his six year term on the Board. Joe’s strong financial background and commitment to the club has provided invaluable insight to the Board. I would also like to thank Dave McCurdy for his

leadership and guidance to the Board over his seven year term. Lastly, I would like to thank the entire Board of Directors – Tim D’Angelo, Mark Vannatta, Carla Sokol, Dave Tritsch, Joe Patrick, Mark Sell, Don DeVere and Ken Cookson – for their service and dedication to our Club.

The ACC would not be as good as it is without the hard work and dedication of Paul Kroll, Mike Delcour, Sarah Favara and the entire ACC staff. Their tireless efforts combined with the positive approach they bring to the job each day, set the tone for a truly outstanding environment. Our people make us what we are as a Club, and we are fortunate to have some of the very best on our team!

Finally, thanks to all of you who stopped me around the Club to offer your suggestions and support for how to make our Club a better place. I know now how much the ACC means to so many of us, and it has been an honor to serve as your President.

Happy New Year, everyone! On behalf of the ACC staff, we wish you a healthy and prosperous 2016.

The holiday season was terrific for the club with many great events. The talk of the season was certainly Martinis and Mistletoe on December 17th and Santa’s Brunch. It was a record setting year for both with attendance topping 550 and 400 attendees respectively! It’s been two weeks since Martinis and Mistletoe and I still get comments on the huge crowds and how great the food was. Ah yes, one last “Thank you” to Chef John for adding the special touches throughout the season!

The holidays were certainly made merrier for the staff thanks to your generosity of contributions to the The ACC Employee Holiday Fund. Your gifts were especially gratifying as they were received as a gesture of gratitude. Your kindness is very much appreciated. Also, you will be pleased to know that the staff will have an opportunity to celebrate their year amongst themselves at the annual staff holiday party held just after the new year.

While we’re on the subject of the club staff, they are wasting no time getting programming lined up for the new year. January and February offer fresh opportunities to be inspired by fitness, bowling leagues, trivia, great food and wine --- and whiskey! The Town Branch Whiskey Dinner will be held on January 21, see page 8. Also, plug it in your calendar, the Annual Meeting is February 16! See details below.

Thank you for being a member of The ACC. It is because of all of you that we are among the best club experiences in Columbus. We have so much to do and experience in 2016, and we start right now!

A special welcometo the ACC for our new members who

joined us in 2015!

Please join us for a New Member Social

on Thursday, February 4 from 6:30 - 8 PM.

Mingle with fellow new members, as well as

Here’s to a New Year!Membership numbers continued to grow through 2015 and we’re looking forward to another strong year in 2016! As always, the best way for new members to be introduced to the ACC is through a current member. Don’t be shy --- bring your friends and family in to experience all that the ACC has to offer. Introduce them to the ACC Membership staff and we’ll make sure they have all the information they need to start the membership process on the right foot.

With plenty of upcoming events that are perfect for guests -- Chili Cook Off, Stolpman Wine Dinner, Wild Game Dinner -- now is the perfect time to share your member experience! Contact Mary in the Membership Office for membership information.

Thank you to our sponsoring members who take the lead month after month in introducing new members to the ACC! Remember, all sponsors receive a $100 club gift card as a “thank you” for their support. Here’s to another great year!
