The second of the Ten Commandments says: “You shall

not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything

that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the

water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them”

(Exodus 20:4–5 ESV).

When we love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind, and our

neighbor as ourselves …1

We can enjoy special items that are fun or useful, but we don’t allow

such things to become our main focus to where God takes second

place in our lives.

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on
