Lady Fingers is run by the Brunswick Neighbour-hood House and funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Why should I get involved?Lady Fingers gives you the chance to learn from Mel-bourne’s spunkiest DJ. Not only do you get DJ lessons for free but you also get the chance to make new friends, develop skills in event management and leadership (that will look great on your CV) and explore music on a deep level.

This project is all about giving you the chance to delve into your own musical tastes whilst at the same time opening up your horizons to a whole new world of musical possibilities.

Who can get involved?Anyone who is female and aged between 15-25years

How do I get involved?Contact Rachel on: 0402 749 441 or email her on: [email protected] We can only accept 20 participants so if you’re interested you will be required to fill out an application form.

How much do I pay?Nothing, it is absolutely FREE!

When do we meet?The classes will run on a weekly basis during school term. There will be two excursions running as part of the project and the opportunity for you to plan and organise your own event.

When the girls have been selected we will decide on a day to meet.

How long does the project run for?The project runs until November this year. The showcase event has been booked into the Brunswick Town Hall for Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Namila BensonHailing from Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, Pacific Break producer and proud Tolai meri Namila Benson is a regular on the music and arts scene in Melbourne. DJing as Sista Selekta, she regularly totes her vast record collection around town; taking her soul, hiphop and global beats from art exhibitions to festivals and everywhere in between.

Namila also presents a weekly radio show on Australia’s largest community radio station, Triple R, and co-presents the live arts and multicultural television show Viva Melbourne. For her, music is the universal language.
