At ROAR, kids will deepen their friendship with God and others, experience his goodness, and develop a foundation to face life’s challenges. At this year’s Vacation Bible School, children learn that Life is Wild but God is Good. Through daily Bible lessons, engaging music, creative games, and tons of fun, faith-filled activities, the theme is reinforced and everyone is encour- aged to put their trust in God. Last year, we had almost 75 children in attendance, 30% more than the year before! This summer, we look forward to even more. For teens, it is a great way to have more responsibility, do service hours, and build a community of friends. Last year, our teens led groups of kids, assisted teachers at certain stations, sang, and performed in skits. About 90% of them want to come back! Liturgy, Music and Prayer

Assist with Children’s Liturgy of the Word“Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” – Matthew 19:14

Each week during the 9:00 AM Mass, we provide a Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) to help kids preschool through 4th grade better understand and take to heart the meaning of the Sunday Scripture readings. The children process to the Parish Hall where they hear the readings proclaimed and illuminated through storytelling and activities. The children return to the Mass at the Offertory.

Are you willing to be part of a rotating schedule of people who assist with Children’s Liturgy of the Word? We need:

1. Storytellers: Do you have the gift of storytelling? Are you comfortable in front of a group? We have resources to help you share the Sunday Gospel with children.

2. Parents: Can you help to escort children to and from the parish hall and support a productive sharing environment?

3. Adults and Teens: Can you lead a song, proclaim the first scripture passage, support the children and help facilitate your Sunday team?

4. Coordinators: Can you assist in coordinating volunteers and the schedule?

Contact Mary Brunette [email protected] or call the parish office.

Greeters Ministry Being Formed We are seeking parishioners who would like to assist at Mass as “Greeters.” We want to distinguish these individuals from the role of Ushers who help with a variety of tasks at each Mass. Greeters will specifically focus on welcoming people at each Mass and provide that great gift of hospitality. We are particularly looking ahead to Easter Sunday, when we have many guests and visitors present at our morning Masses. Families and couples would make great Greeter teams.

Greeter Requirements:

1. A great smile2. A willing spirit to meet new people3. A desire to welcome people to our parish

Sound like you? Contact: Tom Tomaszek at [email protected]

Explore OLL’s Small Group OptionsOur Pastoral Council set forth a goal for our parish to increase the number and type of small groups that regularly meet throughout the year. Increasing the opportunity for parishioners to join or establish their own small group for faith sharing will create a dynamic parish equipped to pass on the truth of Jesus

Christ and His church for each generation.

Small groups help us grow in wisdom through sharing the Scriptures, in learning through our common studies and insights, in serving as we look for op-portunities to help others as a group, in support and comfort as we share the joys and worries of our lives, and in loving as we learn and grow together.

You can explore our current options for small groups on our website www.ollparish.com/small-groups or contact Laura 503-636-7687 to organize your own group.

OLL School: New Art-Bulletin BoardsThis January, our school received our new custom built “art boards” to highlight the fantastic work our students are doing in their visual art classes. Built by a local craftsman, the boards were installed just in time for the school’s open house which took place on Sunday, January 27th. The boards are located on the first stairway landing and showcases the digital photography of the 7th and 8th graders that are currently in their art rotation.

The young photographers were studying macro photography and went out and about the schoolyard getting up close and personal with their surroundings. Back in the classroom, the art students used an online software program. There they made enhancements and manipulated the final outcome of their photographic print. The final results are really something to be seen in person. We welcome you to swing by and take a look!
