Louisiana State Documents Depository Program Monthly Shipping List May 2007 (173 titles, 336 items)

This month we got several booklets from the LSU Ag Center labeled as Rep. indicating they are reprints. We checked them against the latest edition of each title in the State Library collection and found that the new items were somewhat different. The Ag Center confirmed that the new reprints were just reprints, with no textual change from the last edition. All we could figure out is that we must not have gotten those last new or revised editions or else they were not on the shelf. So, we decided to distribute the reprints. If they are duplicates for your collection, you may discard them or give them away. You do not need to offer them to depository libraries because everyone got one in this shipment.

The Oil Spill Coordinator's Office and LSU have compiled a 2007 edition of the

Louisiana GIS Digital Map with information from: State: GOHSEP, LCRT, LDEQ, LDHH, LDNR, LDOA, LDOE, LOSCO, LPSC. Fed: BTS, Census, EPA, FCC, FEMA, MMS, NGA, NGS, NOAA, NWRC, USACE, USCG,

USFWS, USGS. Universities: LSU, McNeese State, Nicholls State.

They wanted the 2 volume DVD set to go to all Louisiana libraries so we are distributing it to every state depository library. The State Library may also distribute copies to all the public libraries. We distributed the 2000 and 2003 editions, the 2005 supplement, and the Interdisciplinary exploration of the Louisiana GIS CD map teachers’ guide. ***If you did not select to receive docs from the Governor’s Office, you do not need to keep this DVD but please offer it another library, perhaps to a local middle or high school library or community college.

We got 33 copies of the final report, Louisiana's comprehensive coastal protection master plan for a sustainable coast. OS 210.8p: MP/May 2007. We only distributed 24 but the Coastal Protection Restoration Authority mailed this directly to all main and branch public libraries in parishes south of I-10 vulnerable to surge, public library headquarters in rest of Louisiana, and State Documents Depository libraries. Since this is such an important Louisiana document, we wanted to let you know that we have several extra copies we can send out now. Just contact the Recorders Office.

Several titles in the May MSList from LSU Ag Center and Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries are monograph records but some similar ones are serial records. This reflects cataloging rules changes and the decision making of different catalogers over the years. Some of these State Library catalog records may be revised within the next few weeks into monograph records.

When the Recorders Office distributes magazines/journals of general interest, we count them as a general publication of the agency. They are not counted as an agency/departmental newsletter. Examples: Louisiana Conservationist, Watermarks. This means you will still receive the magazines even if you excluded “departmental newsletters” on your Selection List. Sometimes, it is difficult to distinguish a magazine from a newsletter. Please let us know when you disagree with our decision on a title.

(Drug Asset Recovery Team) Project began in 1990 with a federal grant to the Louisiana District Attorneys Association to implement the amendment to the State Constitution providing for civil forfeitures of drug-related property, and the implementing statutory provision, The Controlled Dangerous Substances Property Forfeiture Act of 1989. Its main function as a clearing house for narcotics-related matters. Financial aid is provided by the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice.
