Or get up close with nature on biking and hiking trails, where birdwatching is some of the finest in the country. You’ll find excellent camping and picnic areas, including well-equipped cabins and RV parks. Jimmie Davis State Park is popular with families, fishermen, cyclists and campers. The beauty of being on the water in Louisiana –
which, we might add, is everywhere in the Bayou
State – is in the diversity. Renting a house boat in
Minden provides a different experience than the
Cajun Corridor. Both, however, result in natural vistas,
spectacular sunsets and unique wildlife viewing.
Adventure-seekers can enjoy waterskiing on
picturesque lakes or canoeing and paddling along
scenic bayous. For those who love the beach, catch
some rays in Lake Charles,
home to the only white inland
beach in Louisiana.
