• I have been looking to shadow a teacher, alternatively I would be looking to gain an

Online portfolio • My online portfolio is available on weebly and it showcases my previous

work such as graphics projects and double page spread articles . As more work is completed, as well as work done continued onto next year I will hopefully add many more pieces to showcase high quality work.

Magazine reference • A reference to my skills is my current magazine assignment. In

the this assignment I display importance of research, understanding of target audience, skills in photography/ Photoshop and skills in writing.

Magazine (importance of research)• Research is extremely important, without research finding out what your

target audience wants will be things can problematic, if you cant provide what your target audience wants theres no profit to be made.

Magazine target audience research• When starting my magazine i had to decide who my target audience is what they

wanted in regards to contents of the magazine.

• When researching what content my target audience wanted I used the online survey site ‘survey monkey’ this was a form of primary research. This was important because without this firstly i wouldn't know how to categorise my audience and secondly what they wanted. The majority of them preferred indie/alternative music and so the magazine was based around that.

How it was made (page layout) The front cover was layed out with a large picture of a guitarist becoming the main

focus of the front cover. The picture catches the eye of the reader immediately as its placed in the centre.

The masthead was featured on the top with Cover lines covering the left hand side. A barcode was added to the bottom left corner for a sense of professionalism.

Text was made with both the Photoshop default text and an online calligraphy generator (masthead)

When laying out the double page spread article it was layed out in a classic double

page spread format with a large picture on the left page, pull quote bordering between the left and right page with most of the writing in columns on the right. It was a relativy simple and familiar layout.

How it was made (photography/ photoshop)

• The front cover was meant to illustrate indie culture of difference and being against society. It comprises of a photo taken of a guitarist (kindly posed by a music student) with his head down not facing the camera. Many shots were taken to get the emotive connotations for the purpose of the articles genre. With the picture taken it was then altered in Photoshop changing the background to bright yellow to get an indie feel, the photo of the guitarist was altered in illustrator using image trace to change it too a sharp black and white a with a colour behind the layer.

• The double page spread article featured a picture covering the left portion of the article showing the recording studio. A relatively neutral black and white colour was used. Photoshop was used to create the columns.

Magazine (article) The article was about technology in the music industry, taken from the veiws of Dean clarke. In the interview

questions such as how technology benefits music and how to get into the industry was asked . The articles is relevant to the target audience as it concerns the music industry as a whole, piquing the audiences interest. It is written in a traditional form of interview writing.

My skills in writing are showed through the professionalism of the article ands its articulated questions
