Fort Dodge Couple Wins Powerball Jackpot Worth $200.8 Million A Fort Dodge couple came forward Oct. 4 to claim the $200.8 million Powerball jackpot they won in late September, the largest lottery prize ever won in Iowa. Tim and Kellie Guderian said they were still a bit in shock over the news. “We played the lottery about twice a month but never expected to win - that was, until last Sunday,” Tim Guderian said. “We had bought the Powerball ticket last Saturday on our way to visit our parents - we had stopped to buy a pop and decided to buy a ticket as well.” The couple said they didn’t check their ticket until they saw the drawing results in the newspaper the next day. “I held the ticket and Tim read off the numbers and all I could say was, ‘Oh my gosh, oh my gosh,’” Kellie Guderian said. “We have been in shock ever since. Win- ning this amount of money is simply overwhelming. We have been working with a financial planner and an attorney so that we can manage these winnings in a responsible way.” The Guderians bought their winning ticket at Kum & Go, 115 N. 22nd St. in Fort Dodge for the Sept. 23 Powerball drawing. They chose to receive their Powerball jackpot in a lump-sum payment of $95,974,824.23. Tim Guderian, 36, is a former U.S. Marine Corps member who served in the Gulf War and left active duty in 1994. He now works as an automotive detailer at Irwin Auto Co. in Fort Dodge. Fort Dodge Couple Wins Powerball Jackpot Worth $200.8 MillionA Fort Dodge couple came forward Oct. 4 to claim the $200.8 million Powerball jackpot they won in late September, the largest lottery prize ever won in Iowa.
Tim and Kellie Guderian said they were still a bit in shock over the news.
“We played the lottery about twice a month but never expected to win - that was, until last Sunday,” Tim Guderian said. “We had bought the Powerball ticket last Saturday on our way to visit our parents - we had stopped to buy a pop and decided to buy a ticket as well.”

Tim added: “We are planning to take a vacation - the first since our honeymoon six years ago - hopefully to Australia. We are going to pay bills and probably buy a new car.”

“I held the ticket and Tim read off the numbers and all I could say was, ‘Oh my gosh, oh my gosh,’” Kellie Guderian said. “We have been in shock ever since. Win-ning this amount of money is simply overwhelming. We have been working with a financial planner and an attorney so that we can manage these winnings in a responsible way.”
The Guderians bought their winning ticket at Kum & Go, 115 N. 22nd St. in Fort Dodge for the Sept. 23 Powerball drawing. They chose to receive their Powerball jackpot in a lump-sum payment of $95,974,824.23.

Starting Nov. 6, the Iowa Lottery newsletter, “VIP Connection,” will be mailed contain-ing a coupon for $1 off the purchase of two Powerball plays with the Power Play.
