ENJOYING THE FINEST CITY: Tonight, the Dodgers play the second contest of a quick three-game road series in San Diego, before heading back up the I5 Freeway for a three-game home series against the Pirates at Dodger Stadium Monday- Wednesday. Los Angeles has taken four of five games from the Padres this season, outscoring the Friars 31-12. The Boys in Blue are 18-11 at PETCO Park since the start of the 2014 campaign. Following the quirk in the schedule, the Dodgers will embark on a seven-game road trip to Denver and San Francisco. The Dodgers went 11-8 against the Padres last season and have not lost the season series to San Diego since going 8-10 in 2010. Since the start of the 2015 campaign, the Dodgers divisional record against the Padres is among the best in the National League: NL, Best Record vs. Division Opponent Since 2015 Washington Nationals vs. Braves 32-9 (.780) Chicago Cubs vs. Reds 30-11 (.732) New York Mets vs. Phillies 30-14 (.682) Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Padres 29-14 (.674) St. Louis Cardinals vs. Brewers 30-15 (.667) DON’T MAKE HIM MAD: After flipping rotation spots with Brandon McCarthy, Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw will take the mound for his seventh start of the season this evening. Kershaw is tied for the National League lead with four victories and ranks sixth with a 2.61 ERA (12 ER/41.1 IP). In 30 career starts against the Padres, Kershaw is 15-6 with a 2.03 ERA (44 ER/195.1 IP) and has held hitters to a .191/.259/.288 slashline, while striking out 206 batters against 63 walks. At PETCO Park, Kershaw gets even stingier, posting a 1.92 ERA (15 ER/70.1 IP) with a .178/.245/.273 slashline in 11 career starts. Los Angeles is 8-3 in those games. Kershaw lost on Monday vs. San Francisco (6.0 IP, 8 H, 4 R/3 ER), his second loss of the season. After his first loss on April 8 at Coors Field, the left-hander bounced back to go 8.1 innings and allow just one run vs. Arizona on April 14. Since his first Cy Young season in 2011, Kershaw is 22-4 with a 1.99 ERA (55 ER/249.1 IP) following a loss and provided he didn’t immediately go on the disabled list (includes 36 starts--does not carry over from one season to the next). Two of Kershaw’s 15-career shutouts have come on the heels of a loss. MORE OF THE SAME: The Dodger bullpen tossed 4.0 scoreless innings last night using five different relievers and continues to rank among the NL’s best in ERA (3.03, 34 ER/101.0 IP, 2 nd ), opponents’ batting average (.223, T-3 rd ), WHIP (1.21, T- 3 rd ), strikeouts (119, 2 nd ), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.05, 1 st ) and fielding independent pitching (2.59, 1 st ). THE HITS KEEP COMING: Despite being slowed by a left calf contusion, Dodger third baseman Justin Turner went 2-for- 4 with a run scored and a walk last night and has hit safely in 18 of his last 20 games, batting .392 (29-for-74) with eight runs, six doubles, a home run and 11 RBI since April 13. Turner is tied for the NL lead in doubles (11, T-2 nd MLB), while his .424 (29-for- 66) average vs. right-handed pitching leads Major League Baseball. The California native also ranks in the NL’s top five in batting average (.379, 2 nd ), hits (39, T-4 th ), on-base percentage (.444, 5 th ) and multi-hit games (12, T-4 th ). Turner leads the Dodgers and is tied for ninth in the National League with a .429 (9-for-21) average with runners in scoring position. DOC’S A MASTER CHEMIST: Dodger skipper Dave Roberts sent two pinch-hitters up to the plate last night (Chris Taylor and Franklin Gutierrez) and both delivered with key singles that ignited the club’s two-run seventh. On the season, Dodger pinch-hitters are batting .323 (20-for-62), which ranks third in the National League, trailing only the Cardinals (.405, 15- for-37) and Cubs (.326, 15-for-46). The Dodger bench leads the Major Leagues in hits (20), at-bats (62), runs (13), walks (9) and RBI (11) while ranking in the top-5 in doubles (3, T-1 st ) and homers (2, T-2 nd ). Los Angeles pinch-hitters have posted a .408 OBP, which ranks second in the NL. Standouts off the bench include Chris Taylor (4-for-7, HR, 4 RBI), Adrián González (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Franklin Gutierrez (3-for-4, 2 R) and Andrew Toles (3- for-9, 2B, RBI). TOLESY!: Dodger outfielder Andrew Toles went 1-for-5 last night, but collected the biggest hit of the game, a two-run double in the seventh inning that extended his career-best hitting streak to eight games. Toles is batting .387 (12-for-31) with two homers, seven RBI, eight runs scored and three doubles during the streak that dates to April 27. In that time, L.A. has posted a 6-2 record. WE SEE YOU ROOK: Dodger rookie Cody Bellinger was at it again last night, going 3-for-5 and becoming the first Dodger since at least 1913 to collect two multi-homer games in his first 10 contests. The rookie first baseman/outfielder is hitting .342 (13- for-38) with four home runs, nine RBI, a double and a triple in 10 games. The Dodgers are 7-3 in those games and 6-1 when Bellinger collects a hit. HIT MACHINE: On this date in 2011, Dodger outfielder Andre Ethier picked up three hits at Citi Field against the Mets to extend his hitting streak to 30 games, the second-longest run in franchise history. He went 0-for-4 the next day, bringing the streak, which had started on April 2, to an end. Ethier is currently on the 10-day disabled list with a lumbar disk herniation. On this date seven years ago, the Dodgers’ 10-3 victory over the Washington Nationals at Dodger Stadium established a modern-day Major League Baseball record with 13 consecutive home wins to start the season, surpassing the old mark of 12 by the 1911 Detroit Tigers at Bennett Park. Los Angeles had already established a franchise record with its 10-0 start, one better than the 1946 Brooklyn club at Ebbets Field. ALMOST HOME AGAIN: The Dodgers take on the Pirates for three games this Monday-Wednesday next week and the first 40,000 ticketed fans at Monday’s contest will receive a Dodger chips and salsa dish, presented by Jack in the Box. ENJOYING THE FINEST CITY: Tonight, the Dodgers play

the second contest of a quick three-game road series in San Diego,

before heading back up the I5 Freeway for a three-game home

series against the Pirates at Dodger Stadium Monday-

Wednesday. Los Angeles has taken four of five games from the

Padres this season, outscoring the Friars 31-12. The Boys in Blue

are 18-11 at PETCO Park since the start of the 2014 campaign.

Following the quirk in the schedule, the Dodgers will embark on

a seven-game road trip to Denver and San Francisco.

The Dodgers went 11-8 against the Padres last season

and have not lost the season series to San Diego since

going 8-10 in 2010. Since the start of the 2015 campaign,

the Dodgers divisional record against the Padres is

among the best in the National League:

NL, Best Record vs. Division Opponent – Since 2015

Washington Nationals vs. Braves 32-9 (.780)

Chicago Cubs vs. Reds 30-11 (.732)

New York Mets vs. Phillies 30-14 (.682)

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Padres 29-14 (.674)

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Brewers 30-15 (.667)

DON’T MAKE HIM MAD: After flipping rotation spots with

Brandon McCarthy, Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw will take

the mound for his seventh start of the season this evening.

Kershaw is tied for the National League lead with four victories

and ranks sixth with a 2.61 ERA (12 ER/41.1 IP). In 30 career

starts against the Padres, Kershaw is 15-6 with a 2.03 ERA (44

ER/195.1 IP) and has held hitters to a .191/.259/.288 slashline,

while striking out 206 batters against 63 walks. At PETCO Park,

Kershaw gets even stingier, posting a 1.92 ERA (15 ER/70.1 IP)

with a .178/.245/.273 slashline in 11 career starts. Los Angeles is

8-3 in those games.

Kershaw lost on Monday vs. San Francisco (6.0 IP, 8 H,

4 R/3 ER), his second loss of the season. After his first

loss on April 8 at Coors Field, the left-hander bounced

back to go 8.1 innings and allow just one run vs. Arizona

on April 14. Since his first Cy Young season in 2011,

Kershaw is 22-4 with a 1.99 ERA (55 ER/249.1 IP)

following a loss and provided he didn’t immediately go

on the disabled list (includes 36 starts--does not carry

over from one season to the next).

Two of Kershaw’s 15-career shutouts have come on the

heels of a loss.

MORE OF THE SAME: The Dodger bullpen tossed 4.0

scoreless innings last night using five different relievers and

continues to rank among the NL’s best in ERA (3.03, 34 ER/101.0

IP, 2nd), opponents’ batting average (.223, T-3rd), WHIP (1.21, T-

3rd), strikeouts (119, 2nd), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.05, 1st) and

fielding independent pitching (2.59, 1st).

THE HITS KEEP COMING: Despite being slowed by a left

calf contusion, Dodger third baseman Justin Turner went 2-for-

4 with a run scored and a walk last night and has hit safely in 18

of his last 20 games, batting .392 (29-for-74) with eight runs, six

doubles, a home run and 11 RBI since April 13. Turner is tied for

the NL lead in doubles (11, T-2nd MLB), while his .424 (29-for-

66) average vs. right-handed pitching leads Major League

Baseball. The California native also ranks in the NL’s top five in

batting average (.379, 2nd), hits (39, T-4th), on-base percentage

(.444, 5th) and multi-hit games (12, T-4th). Turner leads the

Dodgers and is tied for ninth in the National League with a .429

(9-for-21) average with runners in scoring position.
