Do you have Something Overdue?

Mrs. Morris has been checking a few things from the beginning of the year and has found that the Library borrowing records show several items which were borrowed very early in the year, but are yet to be returned to the library. Students have been reminded over the past couple of weeks about this problem. Students should return an item within 2 weeks of borrowing it, for their name to remain off the overdue book list. The RATS Reader listings also show a significant number of missing titles not returned at the end of last year. The RATS readers are a very important resource within the school, representing a significant level of investment, and therefore it is concerning that we have a large number of missing titles. We would appreciate having any readers returned to Mrs Morris ASAP so that our records can be updated.

On-Line Writing Course Students in Stage 2 and 3 recently participated in their third on-line writing workshop. This workshop was titled ‘Fantasy Creatures and Fabulous Beasts’ with Cecilia Dart Thornton. Students were asked to release the amazing animals from their imagination and bring them to life through their writing. For example;

One of the strangest creatures around is the guardian of ‘The Red Ruby’ otherwise known as the Borlook. The Borlook is the only one of its kind. This is why…..

The Borlook

When the Borlook was little, it looked somewhat like a cute little green dragon. He was taken by evil spirits and was raised by them. He grew hooves, claws, paws and a hand. He also grew two long necks with a ghastly bony head on the end of each neck. Then he grew a tail with three snakes joined to the end.

He learned evil and knew of no good. So when he escaped from his evil captors he took with him ‘The Red Ruby’. Anyone who touches the ruby becomes all powerful and has great strength. Many people wanted the power of the magical ruby and came from far and wide to fight the Borlook for it. They all failed as the Borlook had already gained the powers of the ruby and was immortal and undefeatable.

The Borlook cannot speak, he can only make sad, mournful sounds. To this day, the Borlook roams the earth trying to find a safe place to keep the ruby.
