Whilst Ms Lyons is on leave, Miss Tongue will be teaching 1L and Mrs Clinton will be teaching 3/4C for the next two weeks (until June 7). Interviews for the Principal position are on Thursday, so we will know the outcome very soon. World’s Greatest Shave Congratulations EPS, you raised $1321.80 to support the Leukaemia Foundation during our World’s Greatest Shave initiative last term. A superb effort! Jewellery at School We have had a number of students recently wearing a variety of piercings to school. Whilst we acknowledge a student’s choice (with parent permission) to have piercings, we have a duty of care to ensure that all students are safe at our school. Only studs and sleepers are considered “safe” options. The longer “spacer” type earrings are a potential danger not only to the wearer, but to other students during physical activity. Any piercings with elongated ends or sharp ends are not to be worn to school as they are potentially unsafe. We respectfully request that you assist us in this matter. We would like to avoid having to ask students to remove unsafe piercings. Regional NAIDOC Ceremony The National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) and the Australian Government are encouraging communities across the country to embrace the theme of NAIDOC Week 2013 – “We value the vision: Yirrkala Bark Petitions 1963”. This year the Hunter Central Coast Regional NAIDOC Week Ceremony will be held in the Theatre at the Hunter School of the Performing Arts, 109 Lambton Rd, Broadmeadow on Tuesday 18th June 2013 commencing at 9.00 am. Guests are most welcome to stay for morning tea. NAIDOC Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to join together to recognise the valuable contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have made to this country. As this day is an important occasion I would like to encourage as many students, parents and carers as possible to join with us in this special celebration. If you would like to attend and celebrate the Department of Education and Communities Hunter Central Coast Region’s NAIDOC Week ceremony, please indicate your intention to attend via the school front office by Thursday June 13 on 4958 1831. Students will require private transport to attend this event. Have a wonderful week everyone and remember –

If there is inclement weather please listen to KOFM in the morning for an announcement. PSSA Netball On Friday our netball girls played our first PSSA netball game against Edgeworth Heights Public School. Our junior team won 27-0 with Shae and Anneleise scoring all of our goals. Our defence was amazing and stopped the ball every time it came into Edgeworth Heights’ goal end. Well done girls! Our senior team unfortunately lost 4-7. However, ALL of the girls improved dramatically. Congratulations to Hayley Van Leeuwarden and Abby Stokes for scoring their first ever goals in a game. Also, great job to the rest of the team for fabulous attacking and defensive skills.
