Stage 2 Excursion Last week, fifty-three Stage 2 students travelled to Beechworth for an overnight excursion. They visited a waterfall, a bakery, old fashioned shops, and participated in a cartoon workshop. Unfortunately as a result of the rain they missed out on learning about honey being produced. Thank you to Miss Brain and Sue Schaefer for organising the excursion and to Miss Brain, Mr Chauhan and Mrs Nixon for giving up time with their families to allow our students the experience of an overnight trip away.

Volunteer’s Morning Tea Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our school community throughout 2017. We were pleased we could show our appreciation at our thank you morning tea last week.

2018 Planning

We are currently planning for the year ahead. If your children will not be attending Griffith Public School in 2018 could you please let us know as soon as possible? Thank you.

School Hats

School hats MUST be worn when the students are out in the playground. It must be a school hat with the school logo. Hats can be purchased for $10 from the P&C Uniform Shop or the school canteen. Presentation Day Griffith Public School Presentation Day is on Thursday 7th December starting at 10.30am at the Griffith Regional Theatre.

Letters have been sent home with students who are receiving awards. There are a limited amount of tickets remaining. Tickets are not available on the day.

Year 6 Grad & Big Day Out

This Thursday is the Year 6 graduation. Parents and carers are invited to attend the formal ceremony commencing at 5:00 pm in the school hall. Year 6 students will then stay behind to enjoy a meal. Following this, a disco with Year 5 students will conclude the evening. The disco begins at 7pm and finishes at 9pm sharp. Drinks will be for sale. Entry fee for Year 5 is $5.

The Big Day Out is on Friday 8th December where the Year 6 students and some of their teachers will enjoy a day at City Park followed by a sausage sizzle lunch at the Griffith Aquatic Centre.

All Year 6 students have received a note regarding this and need to have paid $10 for the grad and $8 for the Big Day Out. If they havn’t already done so, please pay this as soon as possible.

Students are reminded that if they are placed on a level prior they may jepardise their ability to attend the meal, disco and BDO.

GPS All Stars end of year reward

Students who have received every star for the whole year will be attending a reward day on Wednesday 13th December. They will be participating in swimming, footsal, netball and tennis at Post School Options, Yoogali. Students will be provided with a pizza lunch and a drink. They will leave GPS by bus at 9:45 am and return approximately 2:30-3 pm. A permission note with more details was sent home on Monday and must be returned to Mrs Lemon by Friday 8th December.

Exciting News for K-2!

On Thursday 14th December, K-2 children will be able to participate in a fun day at school. This will involve time spent on an inflatable water slide and class parties with a visit from Santa. To go on the water slide, children will need to bring the following items labelled with their name:

swimmers towel sunscreen rash shirt

For the class party, your child will need to bring one item of food to share with their class. Thank you, K-2 Teachers.

P&C News

Fete: we hope everyone had a wonderful time at the fete! We are lucky to have such enthusiastic, hard-working teachers at GPS who can organize such a fantastic event for the students! Not only was it a fun day, but it raised over $2,000 for the P&C!! This money will be used to subsidise uniforms and excursions for all GPS students.

Uniform Shop: the P&C uniform shop is still open every Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00! Thank you to our great team of volunteers – especially Debra, who has been doing lots of work for the uniform shop this term! Gift wrapping for Christmas: the P&C will be wrapping gifts at Griffith Central to raise money for our school! Please drop by on the 11th and 23rd December to say “Hi” and lend your support!

P&C Meeting: Our last P&C meeting for the year is next Monday, December 4th at 5:30pm. Christmas nibbles provided!! Vanessa Clark, P&C President
