Looking Forward
to Fall!
Look for details on the upcoming Shows and Trials in the
following pages!
All Classes are resuming as of September 9th. Please
remember be safe, practice social distancing and wear a
mask when required.
Let’s keep our building and everyone safe so we can
enjoy our Dog Sport!
Tribute to Lee Jackson Lee Jackson was one of the founding members of
Youngstown All Breed Training Club. Before the club
was established, several people met and trained their
dogs at Pioneer Pavilion in Mill Creek Park. They later
moved to GF Hall on Logan Avenue in Youngstown to
train. Lee spent many hours and much of his own money
to keep this club active. He was known as “Mr.
Youngstown All Breed” and served as president of
YABTC for 18 years. Lee was also president of
Mahoning Shenago Kennel Club.
Lee was an AKC judge and one of 3 people in the nation
to receive the distinguished 1977 Midwest D’Ambris
award. Unfortunately Lee passed away before he could
receive the award.
Both Lee and his wife Kay competed in obedience with
Dachshunds and Belgian Sheepdogs. Kay also was Trial
Secretary for many years. They had three dogs titled as
Companion dogs. Lee had a good sense of humor and
had one of his wire haired Dachshunds registered with
the name of “DAMMIT”
March of 1978, in honor of Lee Jackson the first Lee
Jackson award was given in tribute of him and has
become a yearly tradition of YABTC. This award is
given to and outstanding and dedicated person who has
served our club in honor of Lee Jackson.
2020 Lee Jackson award was selected from a list of
members and the committee of Kim Burrier, Cheryl
Christy, Cindy Rhine, and Jo Ann Fedyski have selected
Helen White as this year’s recipient. Dogs have been a
very important part of her life. She has owned
Rottweiler’s and other breeds, but now her breed of
choice is Teddy Roosevelt terriers. She has trained her
dogs in obedience and agility and enjoys them as
companions. A horsewoman in earlier years, she also has
a soft spot in her heart for donkeys after adopting Sardi,
when he was in need of a home.
She has done much for our club, donating anonymously
to purchase needed items, never expecting or wanting
recognition. She has graciously offered her property to
host our yearly club picnics for many years. The hours of
preparation, the work during, and the clean up afterwards
amount to hours of labor, but she does it cheerfully year
after year. She wrote her trilogy of "Percy" books, had
them printed at her expense, and then donated them to
our club and other organizations so that the profits have
gone to them and not her self.
She and her late husband, Larry, had a Valentine's Day
tradition. They would visit an animal shelter, choose a
2 Youngstown All Breed Training Club Aug/Sept 2020
dog, pay the adoption fee, and leave a "Percy" book. The
day that dog was chosen by an individual to be adopted,
they were told that the fee had already been paid, and
they were given the book as a special surprise gift.
A woman of many talents, she
is a prolific writer, a poet, an
artist, an individual with
boundless energy, and a
special knack for decorating.
With a mind that seldom rests,
she is always planning new
projects. She can drive
tractors, trucks, and other
equipment to complete these
projects.
She is encourager, putting
others first. She is a woman of
strong faith, and lives her life
as an example for others.
Small in stature, but boundless in love and generosity,
she has made legal arrangements to donate her property
to Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, upon her
passing. Already the university is benefiting from her
thoughtfulness. She hosts numerous groups of students,
sometimes numbering as many as 30, for weekend
retreats.
Please congratulate this year’s recipient of the Lee
Jackson Award Helen White

Congratulation to Sharon Phillips’s Beginner 2 Obedience
class that graduated Tuesday, July 21st.
Everyone had their own challenges to overcome. I had
Spike, a 7 year old Aussie that had never been in a house
before, so he was really overwhelmed by all the strange
dogs and new commands to heel, sit and stay! We started
with a double collar and leash because I was afraid if he got
away from me, he would be gone....
Some days he would not start taking treats until midway
thru the class! But we did it and passed our CGC test
thanks to the good instructors at YABTC.
He is much more confident now and has a good recall and
stay. Thanks to Sharon Phillips and Kim Shaffer for the
class and Lisa Sangragorio for the Test!

I really enjoyed the
Canine Conditioning
Fitness article with
photos in the June/July
newsletter by club member Karen Wisler. I thought I’d
send in Panzer’s summer 2020 accomplishments in that
area.
Panzer is the FIRST Rottweiler (per DMWYD) website) to
earn Canine Conditioning Fitness LEVEL 3 and LEVEL 4
and CHAMPION Canine Conditioning Fitness Title CCF-
CH on July 22, 2020.
Panzer is the FIRST Rottweiler to earn a DMWYD TRIPLE
CROWN TITLE. The Triple Crown Title recognizes dogs
that have at least ONE Level in each of the THREE
DMWYD venues: Trick, Stunt, and CCF. Panzer became a
Triple Crown Level TWO Titleholder when he passed
TWO Stunt Dog Levels. Panzer earned his NOVICE Stunt
Dog Title and OPEN Stunt Dog Title on August 3, 2020. He
is the THIRD Rottweiler (per DMWYD website) to earn
OPEN Stunt Dog. I have THREE AKC Trick titles; but
your dog must earn Trick titles administered by a DMWYD
Certified Trick Dog
Instructor before you can
compete at Stunt Dog Trials.
Panzer and I both enjoy new
and fun things. Panzer is a
jolly jumper and is happy to
“KLIMB” on anything. The
Canine Conditioning Fitness
Classes and Stunt Dog Trial
will be a favorite memory for
us; playing and performing
kept us engaged and involved
in some type of dog activity
during the summer of 2020.
From Karen Wisler
Mya (K's Powerhouse)
has been very busy this
month. She earned her
Expert Trick Title from
Do More With Your
Dog and then attained
her Level 3 Canine
Conditioning and
Fitness title. What a
hard working girl!!

In the Know…..
From Karen Wisler
Kyra Sundance of ‘Do More With Your Dog’ has just announced a new title that can be earned, the Triple Crown title.
A dog earns their Triple Crown title by titling in three sports: Stunt Dog, Trick Dog, and Canine Conditioning Fitness. A dog earns Triple Crown-1 by achieving the novice level in all three sports. Triple Crown-2 is earned by achieving the second level of all three sports, and so on. The top title is the Triple Crown Champion, for dogs who earn their Champion titles in all three sports.
Kasey, Brenna and Tweed have all been honored with this Award, Level 1.
Happy
Retirement! Life time YABTC member Dr. Dan O'Neill is retiring from
YSU in Aug after 51 years. Professor O'Neill served as
Chair of the Dept of Communication & was the
Parliamentarian for the Faculty Senate for many years.
As an AKC Lure Coursing judge he will now have more
time to judge field trials and spend more time with his
beloved Rhodesian Ridgebacks. He especially likes to make
Therapy visits with his TDI dogs.
He started with RR in
March of 1996.

Rally Intermediate added to the AKC Virtual Rally Pilot Program by AKC Companion Events Department
07/22/2020 – Announcing the Addition of Rally
Intermediate to the AKC Rally® Virtual Program
The AKC Rally Department is excited to announce
the expansion of the AKC Rally Virtual Program to
include the Rally Intermediate class. Rally
Intermediate is the next level of AKC Rally above
the entry-level Rally Novice class. The Rally Virtual
Program was announced three months ago and the
positive response to it has been tremendous.
As with Rally Novice, the Rally Intermediate
competitor sets up a pre-designed AKC Rally®
course, records the team’s performance, and
submits it to AKC. In turn, AKC will assign a pre-
selected AKC Rally Judge to virtually review and
score the team’s Rally performance.
Rally Intermediate is open to all dogs six months of
age and older that have earned the Rally Novice
(RN) title but have not earned an AKC Rally
Advanced (RA) title.
There are five pre-designed courses published on
the AKC website for the exhibitor to choose from.
The exhibitor will setup the course according to the
Instructions provided and with answers to the
commonly asked questions in the FAQ document.
They will video the performance, upload the video
to their personal YouTube account, set the required
YouTube viewing options, and submit the video link
with the online entry form and pay the fee
electronically to AKC.
Once the entry form is received, the video link will
be assigned to a judge for review. All qualifying
scores will be recorded on the dog’s AKC record
and applied toward the three required for the Rally
Intermediate (RI) title.
The virtual Rally program is planned to end at
midnight December 31, 2020 and all video
submissions must be received by that date and
time. We are excited to offer this virtual option to
our Rally Intermediate exhibitors!
For more information go to
https://www.akc.org/sports/rally/rally-virtual-entry-
pilot/
If you have questions after reviewing the
information, please write to [email protected].
Wishing you lots of fun in your Rally runs!
Sincerely,
AKC Companion Events Team

Local Shows
Cleveland All-Breed Training Club has two Scent trials coming up – one on September 19-20 and one on
October 17-18. Several of your club’s members expressed an interest to participate and/or volunteer to learn
more about the trials and scent work. Both trials are open now – the September’s trial has a soft closing of
September 9th, but we accept day of show entries as space permits.
And as you know – we love volunteers!
Would you please distribute the attached premiums to your club’s membership – any questions and/or if
someone wants to volunteer can email me at [email protected] .
Thanks a million for your help.
