LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL PRODUCT?
What I've learnt about using software
During the production of my college magazine I learnt the basics of Adobe Photoshop such as using layers and creating shapes.
While making the full music magazine I learnt a lot more about Photoshop such as how to edit photo’s and change the opacity of the shapes. I also found out how to use various other programs such as slideshare and surveymonkey as I had never used them before. You can see the improvements in my Photoshop skills when you look at the difference between my college magazine and my final product below.
What I've learnt about photography
While making my college magazine I learnt the basic skills of taking photo’s for magazines such as use of lighting and how to adjust the camera. I just used plain shots during my college magazine and seemed boring.
During my music magazine photography I developed my camera skills. I experimented with different angles and different poses. These shots were much more lively than the photo’s for my college magazine and I feel the photo’s have improved from the previous ones.
What I've learnt about the layout Before I did the preliminary task I didn't
have much idea for the layout of the magazine but while doing the college magazine I found out more about the codes and conventions of the layout for a double page spread.
I learnt that odd page numbers are always on the right-hand side page and i followed this convention as it makes it more professional.
