Pattern Notes: The cardigan is worked from the top down with raglan sleeves and a V-neck. The raglan increases are worked as follows: Work until 1 st before each raglan marker, KFB, SM, K1, SM, KFB. V-neck increases are worked as a KFB in the first st of the row and as a KFB in the 2nd to last st in the row. All raglan & V-neck increases are worked on RS rows. Sleeve decreases are worked as follows: Knit to 3 sts before the marker, SSK, K1, SM, K1, K2tog. The ribbed button band and neck trim are added to the finished sweater. The buttonholes are added to the left side trim for a boy’s sweater and to the right side trim for a girl’s sweater. Space the buttonholes evenly, and work as a K2tog, YO in the 3rd row of ribbing. Work the 4th row of ribbing in the established pattern.

Stitch Patterns: Stockinette Stitch (St st): Knit on the RS of the fabric, purl on the WS of the fabric. Button Band/Neck and Hem Ribbing: Rows 1, 3, 5(WS): P3, *[K2, P2] repeat from * until 5 sts remain, K2, P3. Rows 2, 4: K3, *[P2, K2] repeat from * until 5 sts remain, P2, K3. BO in pattern. Sleeve Ribbing: Rounds 1 - 5: *[K2, P2], repeat from * to end of round. BO in pattern. Pattern: CO 2 (2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4), PM, CO 1, PM, CO 10 (12, 12, 12, 12, 13, 14), PM, CO 1, PM, CO 22 (22, 24, 24, 28, 28, 28), PM, CO 1, PM, CO 10 (12, 12, 12, 12, 13, 14), PM, CO 1, PM, CO 2 (2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4). The first row will be a WS row. Purl this row and all WS rows.

Begin raglan and V-neck increases simultaneously on the first RS row. All RS rows are knit. Work the raglan increases every RS row 17 (18, 20, 21, 22, 22, 22) times, and increasing on the V-neck every 4 rows 9 (9, 10, 11, 12, 12, 14) times. Once the raglan increases are complete, continue to increase on the fronts and back only (no increases on sleeves) 1 (2, 2, 3, 3, 5, 7) times ending with a RS row.

Separate Sleeves: P30 (32, 35, 39, 42, 44, 48), place 44 (48, 52, 54, 56, 57, 58) sleeve sts on waste yarn to work later, P60 (64, 70, 74, 80, 84, 88), place 44 (48, 52, 54, 56, 57, 58) sleeve sts on waste yarn to work later, P30 (32, 35, 39, 42, 44, 48). Continue to work in St st until sweater measures 10.5 (11.5, 12.5, 14, 15.5, 17,

18)” from the CO edge ending with a RS row. Begin Ribbing: P3, *[K2, P2] repeat from * until 5 sts remain, K2, P3. Work 4 rows in established Rib pattern. BO in pattern. Sleeves: Transfer sleeve sts from waste yarn to DPNs. Pick up 4 (4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 4) sts in the underarm, PM at center of underarm. Work in the round, decreasing 1 st before M and 1 st after M every 6 (8, 7, 8, 10, 10, 14) rows 8 (8, 10, 9, 8, 9, 7) times. Work even until sleeve measures 7.5” (9.5, 10.5, 11.5, 12.5, 14, 15)”. Work in a [K2, P2] rib for 5 rounds. BO in pattern. Repeat for remaining sleeve. Work 2 more rows, then BO in pattern. Finishing: Sew on buttons and work in all loose ends. Dampen and tumble dry.
