    I youve traveled on eastbound Ken Pratt Boulevard betweenSouth Pratt Parkway and Main Street recently, youveencountered initial construction as part o the Citys Focus onSouth Main.

    Focus on South Main is a multiyear eort comprising threekey projects intended to improve the southeastern gateway toLongmont. By leveraging local dollars rom the -cent StreetFund Sales and Use ax, the City o Longmont has been able toobtain state and ederal unding to undertake t his series o majorconstruction projects:

    1. Main Street and Ken Pratt BoulevardIntersection Improvements

    Improvements identiied or this intersection will reduce

    delays and increase saety. hey include adding a lane eachin eastbound, westbound and southbound directions, as wellas eastbound and westbound rig ht-turn lane additions at theKen Pratt/South Pratt intersection.

    2. Main Street Bridge Replacement at St. Vrain Creek his project will replace the existing bridge that carries Main

    Street over the St. Vrain Creek and the associated greenwaypath. he new structure will accommodate 100-year stormlows and better protect surrounding inrastructure rompotential lood damage.

    3. Main Street Pavement Reconstruction his project will address ongoing pavement maintenance on

    South Main Street rom Ken Pratt Boulevard to 3rd Avenue.

    It is the Citys goal to substantially complete the Focus onSouth Main effort by the end o 2015. All construction will bestaged so that as intersection improvements near completion,work will shif to the bridge replacement as well as pavementreconstruction along Main. Troughout construction, effortswill be made to minimize the impact on area businesses and thetraveling public.

    Focus on South Main is a large and importa nt undertaki ng.Improvements acilitating convenience, traic low, saety,and accessibility ensure this area will continue to thriveas a gateway or Longmont.     CityInformation

    Te City o Longmont develops an annual Snow and Ice ControlPlan to guide operations. Te plan outlines strategies to maintaina sae ow o traffic throughout the city and ensure that eachresidential area is in close proximity to a plowed street. Emphasisis also placed on ensuring that emergency services can be providedthroughout the city.

    Objectives

    1. Provide commuter access through the city and to majorcommercial/industrial zones via the plowing and sanding oarterial roadways.

    2. Provide access to emergency services, by plowing and sandingroadways adjacent to major medical acilities.

    3. Provide neighborhood access to plowed roadways and busroutes during a snow event; this generally involves plowing andsanding collector streets.

    4. Ensure sae vehicle access to schools by including those areas onthe snow routes.

    5. Promote returning the transportation system to a normal stateby removing snow and ice, including afer storms have ended inecessary.

If you cancel less than 7 days prior, yreceive half your rental fee minus the $5.00 cancellation fee.

    Room rental includes tables and chairs along with pool, gym and climbing wbefore and/or after the room rental. If you would prefer to have a dedicated climbing wall time for your group, there is an additional charge of $25.00 afor every 10 children. Climbing wall birthday party reservations are not avduring climbing class and/or open climbing wall times. Climbing Wall Party Information must be completed and turned in on party day.     Water Explorers Water Explorers is designed as a transitionclass for children who want moreindependence than the Aqua Tot class, butare still learning how to follow instructionswithout mom or dad in the water.

    Water Explorers is perfect if your child

    is ready to be in the water without you,but is too young to start the Preschoolprogram. Class size is smaller to helpfoster positive experiences while in thepool without mom or dad. Your childwill explore the water through songs,games, and toys with an instructor and atthe same time learn how to be part of agroup, understand water safety rules andhow to follow directions

    Preschool ProgramThe Preschool Program follows theobjectives of the American Red CrossLearn-to-Swim program, Levels 1-3, butfurther divides the skills to provide a learningenvironment better suited for preschoolers.

    Students with no or limited water experienceand who are uncomfortable putting their facein the water.

    Pre-requisite: Must be able to comfortablysubmerge face & head underwater. front and back for 5 seconds.

    Free! Denver Nuggets Skill Challenge

    Young basketball fans can exhibit their basketball skills whenthe City of Longmont hosts a Denver Nuggets BasketballSkills Challenge competition. The competition is free andopen to boys and girls ages 7 through 14. Boys and girls April 30, 2015. The Skills Challenge is a competition thatshowcases the talents of young boys and girls in dribbling,passing and shooting. Co-sponsored by the ColoradoParks and Recreation Association and the Denver Nuggets,top scorers in each age group advance to a sectionalcompetition.
