Here is the Sutra of the Great Vehicle called"Unfathomable Exalted Life

and Transcendental Wisdom."

In the Indian language: "Arya Aparamita Ayurgyena ama

!ahayana utra."

In the English language: "#reat $ehicle utra of

Unfathomable Exalted Life and Transcendental Wisdom."

I prostrate to all the %uddhas and bodhisatt&as.

Thus I ha&e heard: at one time the %haga'an ()estroyer*

+ualified #one,%eyond -ne 'as in ra&asti at the temple

of the guideless benefactor of food in /eta&ana 0ar1* seated

in one method 'ith 2*345 great intending,&irtue (aryasangha and &irtue,beggars (bhikshus)* and multitudes ofbodhisatt&a great satt&as.

Then the )estroyer* +ualified #one,%eyond -ne granted

discourse to the youthful !an6ushri.

"!an6ushri* there is a 'orld abo&e called "Unfathomable

+ualities." There the Tathagata* ha&ing destroyed the enemy*

the fully completed %uddha (#one,as,it,is called

Unfathomable Life and Transcendental Wisdom* Extremely

)iscerning Aspect $ictorious #lorification* is abiding*re&ealing )harma to sentient beings 'hile holding and

completing the life.

Listen* 7outhful !an6ushri* the human beings of

)8ambuling ha&e a short life* li&ing only to the age of 255.

9rom those* almost all experience untimely death.

!an6ushri* any sentient being 'ho 'rites or lets others 'rite*

listens to 6ust the mere name* reads or 1eeps in the house this

class of teachings called ompletely Expressing 0raise of

The +ualities of the Tathagata* #reat #one,as,it,is* the

Unfathomable Life and Transcendental Wisdom* and also

those 'ho ha&e completely finished their life* if they offer

flo'ers* incense* garlands* ornaments and incense po'der*

'ill be able to li&e another hundred years.

!an6ushri* the life 'ill be increased of any sentientbeing 'ho hears the 25; names of the Unfathomable

Life and Transcendental Wisdom Extremely )iscerning

Aspect $ictorious !an6ushri* because it is li1e that* the

25; names of the Tathagatas 'ill be increased one hundred

years* from the end of their life. E&en after death* by

transference of consciousness* they 'ill be born in the pure

land of the Tathagata Unfathomable Life and TranscendentalWisdom* the >ealm of Unfathomable +ualities and so forth.

through the po'er of effort. And 'hen one enters the city of

the compassionate one* the sound of the po'er of effort 'ill

be proclaimed.

)ue to the po'er ofsam.ten(single,pointed meditation the

%uddha is the completely pure exalted one by actuali8ing thehuman lion through the po'er ofsam.ten. And 'hen oneenters the city of the compassionate one* the sound of the

po'er of 'isdom. And 'hen one enters the city of the
