Church Celebration

LBCM’s 24th Anniversary & Holy Communion Sunday and Thanksgiving & Testimonial Banquet will be held on Sunday, June 1st, at 10:45 am and 4:30 pm, respectively. It will be a joint worship of all 3 congregations. Sunday school will be cancelled that day. The banquet in the afternoon will be a potluck gathering. We welcome all to join us and count our blessings with our Lord. Church Affairs

1. Free Counseling service→ Free Counseling services are available at church on Monday and Tuesday evenings, provided by Sister Marianne Ho. Marianne graduated from counseling in Tyndale M. Div. program with concentration in youth and family ministry. She is an associate member of PACCC (Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counselors) and a general member of OACCPP (Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists). 3. Wednesday Tract Distribution→ The Evangelism department will begin Tract Distribution in the community every Wednesday, from 10:00am-12:00pm. Those who have the heart for spreading the gospel are encouraged to join. To register, please mark your name down on the Evangelism Board or contact Brother Tony Ng.

4. The 2014 Keystone Gospel Camp will begin from May 16th -18th at Wilfrid Laurier University. This year’s topic is “The Strive to Thrive”. Speaker: Dr. See Kiat Toh. For registration please contact Sister Kammy Ng or Vivian Tao.

The Fee is as follows: Adult: $80, Children aged 6-12 (no beds): $40. Children aged 5 or under are free. (no beds). We encourage brothers and sisters earnestly invite friends and relatives who are non-believers to attend, so that they can get to know Jesus, and receive His grace.

5. Summer Student Recruitment→ Our church has been granted funding for two summer job positions by Service Canada under Canada Youth Summer Placement program. They will be working for a period of 8 weeks, 30 hours per week during the summer. Church members who attended 1st Year of College or University are preferred. For details of job descriptions and requirements, please refer to the Church Administration Bulletin board. If interested, please submit your resume to Brother Ping Chan. The application deadline is May 18th.

6. VBS 2014 Theme: “Workshop of Wonders-Imagine & Build with God”→In

addition to our regular half day program, we will also offer full day program with optional extended care (limited space). See below for hours and fee structure. Registration had begun. Teen volunteers, please register with Sister Marianne Ho.

Church Training

1. The Evangelism Explosion Training (EE) will be held today, in Room 301/302, from 2:00-4:00pm. For those who are registered please attend.

2. Bible Study in Mandarin →Pastor Luke Cheng will lead a Bible Study in Mandarin for gospel seekers, at church every Wednesday from 1:30pm-2:30pm. We encourage brothers & sisters to invite their non-believe friends and family to join.

3. Wednesday Prayer Meeting →Other than Bible Study for Proverbs by individual congregation, there is also a Sharing of Prayers for the Muslim country: Morocco. English Prayer Meeting’s Chairperson and Singspiration leader is Daniel Tse, and leader for Children’s Prayer Meeting is Rachel Hung. We encourage brothers and sisters to attend. Details as follow:

4. The Life Discovery Cell Group Meeting (LDCG) will be held either this coming Friday or Saturday. All cell group members please attend.

5. “The Ten Steps of Biblical Interpretation” (Cantonese & Mandarin) → The second reunion training and exercise gathering (total of 10) will be held on Monday, June 2nd, at 7:30pm-9:30pm at church. Rev. Johann Lai will be using SKYPE to share with us on the application of “The Ten Steps of Biblical Interpretation”. The purpose is to use this tool for sharing and applying to build up Discipleship Teachers. We encourage all brothers & sisters who attended the Retreat to join. (Church council members, cell group leaders, and adult & children Sunday school teachers: please reserve your time to attend). We also welcome those who have not attended the previous retreat to join. (Please register). To register, please sign up with Brother Manson Mak after worship today.

Community News

1. The Basketball Outreach Ministry is held today from 2:30pm-5:00pm in the gym.

2. The Yang’s Tai Chi Style 108 (Second Class) will be held this Thursday from

7:30pm-9:00pm in the gym.

3. The Praise Dance Class will be held this Saturday from 10:30am-12pm in the gym. We welcome brothers and sisters to invite their friends and relatives to join.

4. The Yee Hong Centre will have two worship services for seniors on Saturday, May 24th, 9:45am and 10:30am. These worship services will be led by Isaac Fellowship (cell group 11, 12, &13). We welcome your participation. Please contact Brother Tony Ng for details.

Lunch together is held today after worship. For those who bought tickets or a first time newcomer to our church, please go to the gym for lunch.

Other Church News

1. The Toronto Chinese Short Term Mission Training will be holding a fund-raise banquet and graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 24th at 6:00pm, at the Century Palace Chinese Restaurant (Unit 168 at 398 Ferrier St, Markham, Ontario). We welcome brothers

and sisters to attend, to support this foundation for free-will offerings. For the ones who would like to join, please sign up on the Evangelism board or register with Brother Tony Ng. Deadline for registration is May 18th.

2. The Canadian Chinese School of Theology at Tyndale Seminary (CCSTTS) will be

having a biblical course on Christian Doctrine (Cantonese & Mandarin) on Saturdays, June 14th, 21st,

and 28th from 1:30pm -5:30pm. The fee is $100+HST; audit $80+HST. The speaker is Rev. David Wang. The course will be held at our Church. Please register at the ushers table after worship service today.
