When she started saving a lot of money, her friends and family noticed. They asked her how she was saving so much money and how she knew where to locate the best deals. They also wanted to know if it took a lot of time. So many questions! Jay decided that Facebook was the best place to answer their questions as she was already using the social website and knew most of her family and friends did too.

Calling the page Secrets of the Coupon Pro, Jay immediately began sharing her money-saving tips. Her Facebook group is so dedicated to cutting costs that it now has over 300 subscribers. As moderator, Jay often encourages new members to adjust their email subscription settings so they won’t receive a deluge of email alerts from the group. She wants to ensure that people who are new to using coupons will not become overwhelmed by all the large number of

messages the group can generate.She’s also acutely aware that the information the group shares is valuable. “People are struggling, losing their jobs and their homes and are needing to save every penny they possibly can to just pay their monthly bills, let alone put money into savings.”“I like it [Secrets of the Coupon Pro] because we share deals with each other,” says active group member Theresa Allen. “It’s not a place to brag about what you got for free or really cheap. It is a place to tell others how you did it so they can do it too!”Secrets of the Coupon Pro members get together for a “Coupon Swap” on occasional Saturday and weekday mornings. Attending the coupon swap is a free opportunity for members bring the coupons they know they won’t use for someone else, and leaving with a stack of coupons to replace what they brought with them. Fans of coupon clipping find it difficult to throw away good coupons, so a swap meet is a great way to give them to others who can use them.The coupon swap usually takes place at Chick-Fil-A located at 2932 Main Street in Snellville. Because meeting times and days are variable, the best way to join in the coupon swap is to become of fan of the Secrets of the Coupon ProFacebook page for updates.Knowing that the group helps people brings a deep sense of satisfaction to Laurie Jay, but she’s discovered there are benefits beyond her initial expectations. “I am saving my family money, helping others and meeting some really wonderful people in the process.
