Dr. Michelle Roberts - Female, 30-35, is a young professional who is beginning her career as a General Surgeon. Originally from Boston, she has always loved the city and is happy with having the opportunity to work here. On average, she spends 75 hours a week working at the hospital and takes one month off a year for travel and one month for Doctors without Borders. She is usually stationed in South America (due to her proficient knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese), servicing various countries, including Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay. She loves discovering new places and traveling to exotic places for vacation, especially islands. Anything from the Pacific, to the Caribbean, to the Mediterra-nean, and any other type of colorful foreign islands are her favorites. While she does not normally collect items from her travels, she does photograph everything and has large prints that she would like to use as inspiration for her new space.
Relaxation, family, and friends are critical for the client. She is big on entertaining and having a place that takes her away from her work life. Using sterile colors, such as light blues and greens are not allowed. Including spaces for people to stay over and gather and important. While she enjoys house plants, she has little time to keep up the maintenance. In addition to relaxation and guest spaces, she does need a small space to focus on research for working and teaching. At Harvard, she teaches entry to medicine classes to undergraduates. She enjoys inspiring the youth and mentoring the students through the process of becoming a doctor.
Dr. Roberts’ hectic schedule does not allow for much time to cook or prepare meals. With times always shifting, she relies on take out and food friends bring over. An extrovert and big on entertaining, she utilizes her home entertainment system and rooftop garden when guests are over. She is not known for having many possessions other than her medical books and journals. Dr. Roberts is known for hating clutter and liking things to be well organized. Easy going, she is a simple person who is very career oriented.
Overall, she is a fun person who really just needs an escape from her professional world. The development of proper spaces and a flow that reflects her lifestyle is her first priority with a new space. Hopefully together, we can create a space that is a personal retreat from her hospital life, while maintaining a functional, livable and easy to manage environment.
