Well, at last I have managed to take office as the Lodge Exalted Ruler. I want to first thank Bob Fuschetti for stepping in last year. I put him in a difficult position when I had to withdraw from being installed as ER. He has done a terrific job for the last two years, and I will not pretend to be able to fill his shoes. I also want to thank Sandy. As a PER, I certainly know what it requires of a spouse when one is in the position of ER. Her support of Bob and the lodge has been exceptional. Elkdom, (and the lodges that make up the Order) has one primary purpose in its existence - Benevolence and charity. The only way we can be effective in that endeavor is to be efficient in our efforts, and dedicated to our order and lodge aims. We must be selfless in our efforts. It is extremely import that each of us look at our individual positions as an effort to help the whole of the lodge be all that it can be. Much thanks is owed to those of you who have volunteered to work in various positions over the past year(s) and for the coming year. Our lodge has been very fortunate to have been as successful as we have been over the last two years particularly. I am very happy, and proud, of all of you who have helped and supported. Compared to many, if not most, of the lodges around our state we can hold our heads high, Supporting the Lodge is not defined only by those who volunteer to work in particular positions. It is defined by all of our members who pay their dues and take part in the lodge activities. Without your support we would not be able to carry out our charitable efforts. It is very heart lifting to walk into the lodge on a meeting night, a dinner/dance, an activity like trivia night or darts, and find a room full of members. To be honest, most of you have no idea just what that means to me personally. We should be proud, but certainly not prideful of our efforts. There is still room to improve, as there would be with any other lodge. The best way we can all contribute to improvement is to set our minds to continually looking for ways in which we can add to the lodge efforts and activities. I certainly do realize that a lot of the positions taken by volunteers are not easy. A great deal of personal time and effort is required. It can get tiresome, and one may feel unappreciated for their efforts. It can also be a great deal of fun and offer a great deal self satisfaction. Please keep that in mind as you continue help our lodge. I look forward to the coming year, and am very grateful for the opportunity to serve our membership. Thanks to all of you for your support. Tom Crider
