Premium, Surface InsensitiveThis line of instant adhesives provides the best combinationof speed, strength and high temperature performance. Theyare uniquely formulated to attain high bond strengths on thewidest range of materials, including dry or acidic surfaces.
Although fixture speeds will range by substrate material, many yield speeds of 15 seconds or less, such as steel, aluminum, ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, nitrile rubber, paper, balsa wood and phenolic to name a few. These PremiumInstant Adhesives are available in a wide range ofviscosities and most offer temperature resistance up to250F (121C).
For manufacturing operations where rapid assemblyspeeds are critical, two categories of instant adhesivesare available. Loctite Premium Surface InsensitiveInstant Adhesives provide fixture speeds less than15 seconds on many substrate materials while Loctite Light Curing Instant Adhesives provide fixture speedsless than 5 seconds on most substrate materials. ApplyLoctite Accelerators to reduce fixture/cure times and tocure exposed adhesive.

Light-CuringThese patented products provide twocuring mechanisms, the first initiated bythe introduction of light energy and secondby surface moisture present on the almostall substrate materials. Applying theproper light energy to adhesive exposedin open air, or through a transparentsubstrate, allows components to betacked together in as little as 2 to 5seconds. Shadowed areas of the bondline where light cannot reach will alsocure via the standard cyanoacrylatemoisture-curing mechanism, reachingfixture strengths in 5 to 25 seconds, andfull bond strengths in 24 hours.

Superior SolutionsFor Demanding Applications
Low Odor, Low BloomLoctite Low Odor, Low Bloom Instant Adhesives are chemicallyengineered to minimize blooming, the frosty white film that can
occasionally be seen outside of the adhesive bond line of atraditional cyanoacrylate adhesive. In addition, these formulaswill reduce the odor operators may experience in confinedspaces or areas with low air-flow. These grades provide goodtemperature and humidity resistance and are surface insensitiveto attain high bond strengths on a wide range of substratematerials, including dry or acidic surfaces. See page 15 for atechnical description of blooming.
Top FeaturesExcellent for cosmetic applications
Low odor
Reduced white residue bloomingor frosting
Surface insensitive for faster cure in dry/ low humidity environments
FlexibleLoctite Flexible Instant Adhesiveshave been specially designed forbonding flexible materials, such asthe rubber and urethane often used inflexible joints and weather stripping. These solutions provide flexibility atthe bond line and ensure continuedperformance. They are surfaceinsensitive to allow for use acrossa wide variety of substrates andenvironments.
Gap FillingLoctite 3092 is an ultra-fast, geladhesive, which can bond gaps upto 0.200" (5mm) in depth. Thistwo-component, auto-mix technologyensures consistent, fast curingregardless of ambient temperatureand moisture conditions. Loctite 3092 can be used for bonding avariety of plastics, rubbers, metalsand porous materials, including wood, paper and leather.

History of Henkel InnovationCyanoacrylate Adhesives
Henkel is in the business of solving customers problems. When customers buy Loctite brand instant adhesives, theyget more than a product they get a partner who will workside by side with them to find innovative solutions to theirmanufacturing problems.
Rapidly emerging, innovative processes and materialsmandate an unprecedented breadth and depth of engineeringsavvy. Not every company can provide the equipmentand engineering staff necessary to compete in todays
marketplace the way Henkel can. Henkels EngineeringServices Group understands the necessity of partneringwith manufacturers and sharing this expertise with theindustry.
From design and product development to simulated testingof the manufacturing process and dispensing trials, Henkelbrings a wealth of expertise and experience to its customers. In a design-through-assembly partnership, no one addsvalue like Henkel.
the continued curing of the CA in the shadowed areaof the bond line in 5 to 20 seconds via the conventionalsurface moisture curing mechanism. Light curing cya-noacrylate adhesives offer unique performance benefitsfor high-speed assembly processes. By rapidly curingexposed and confined adhesive without requiring the
use of heat or racking of parts, light cure cyanoacrylatesprocess quickly, are easy to use and are reliable.
What is blooming? Blooming is a phenomenon uniqueto cyanoacrylates that manifests itself as a rainbow hazeor whitish haze surrounding a bond line. Un-reactedcyanoacrylate molecules can leave the surface of thedispensed adhesive and become airborne, only to laterfall back onto the surface of the substrate. When theyland, the molecules react with surface moisture andadhere themselves to the substrate. This small concen-
tration of cyanoacrylate particles on the surface canbe diffracted by light causing the rainbow effect, whilehigher concentrations can result in a whitish haze onthe substrate. A number of options exist to minimize oreliminate blooming as listed:
Use low odor/low bloom products Avoid large fillets
Increase air flow
Avoid acidic surfaces
Avoid extremes in relative humidity
Avoid extremes in temperature
Avoid vacuum environments
Avoid the use of old material

How do conventional CAs cure? Cyanoacrylateadhesives are acrylic resins that polymerize or curerapidly when exposed to alkali surfaces. Water, which isfound in trace amounts on virtually all surfaces, containshydroxyl ions which are alkaline and thus trigger rapidpolymerization, whereby CA molecules link up to form
a very strong and durable thermoplastic material. CAsreach fixture strength, or the strength where assembliescan be handled without falling apart, very quicklytypically in 5 to 20 seconds depending on the assembly.CAs reach their full strength in 24 hours, often attaininglevels of 2,000 to 3,500 psi depending on the materialsbonded. Very dry or acidic surfaces can also be bondedusing Loctite Surface Insensitive cyanoacrylateproducts. Cyanoacrylate adhesives that do not contacta surface, but are left in open air, will cure due to atmo-spheric moisture, but very slowly. To quickly cure CA
exposed to open air, either spray on an accelorator, oruse a two-part CA.
How do light cure CAs cure? Light-curing cyanoac-rylates are uniquely versatile as they offer the benefitsof a conventional cyanoacrylate as well as the benefits
of a light cure adhesive. These products will cure asdescribed above, typically reaching fixture strengths in5-20 seconds. They can also reach fixture strengthsin 2-5 seconds with the introduction of the proper lightsource. Light cure CAs contain additives called photo-initiators which react when exposed to light of theproper wavelength and intensity to initiate the polym-erization process extremely rapidly. Light that reachesthe adhesive, either through a transparent substrateor an exposed bond line, allows components to betacked together literally in a few seconds, followed by
