Bulletin Lochinvar Public School
A unique school achieving success.
END OF YEAR A CTIVITIES We have commenced the busy time of the term with lots of activities occurring
each week. As we draw closer to the end of the year students will be
participating in rehearsals for concert night, swimming and preparations for
Year 6 Farewell as well as the general end of year clean up in classrooms.
Reports will be sent home next week along with student portfolios. This is
almost our final bulleting for the year, so please make sure you note the
calendar dates on the side for all events coming up in the next 3 weeks.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOL During the year many businesses and individuals give generously to our school
for a variety of purposes. Some individuals and families give generously to the
school for different reasons. We are very appreciative of these donations as it
allows us to direct funds to areas of greatest need. On behalf of the students and
staff of Lochinvar I would like to thank these families who have given
generously to our school. I would like to offer a special thank you to the
Carson Family for their generous donation. We are very appreciative.
CHRISTMAS SCRIPTURE SERVICE On Thursday this week all students will visit the Anglican Church, Lochinvar for their annual
Christmas Scripture Service. Father Lyle and Zofia Slupik have been working with each class to
prepare students for their participation in this important Service. Parents are welcome to attend the
service which will commence at 11:30 am. Students will walk to the church at 11:15am.
2012 SCHOOL LEADER’S SPEECHES On Wednesday this week our aspiring leaders for 2012 will present their
campaign speech. This will take place in the old library and commence at 9:10.
All parents of aspiring leaders are welcome to attend this event. Directly after
the speeches students will have the opportunity to vote for the boy and girl
school leaders for 2012. The leaders will be selected according to the number of
votes they win. The new leaders will be announced at our Presentation Day
assembly at The Mercure, Rutherford on Thursday, 8th December. They will be
presented with their badges and say the School Leader’s Pledge. All students
aspiring to these roles are worthy candidates and would make positive school
leaders of Lochinvar. Good luck to all our hopeful leaders.

LEARN TO SWIM LESSONS COMMENCED THIS WEEK Our 10 day intensive learn to swim lessons have commenced. The students from grades 1 - 4 will be
accompanied to the pool each day by Mrs. Mitchell, Miss Tiedeman and Mrs. Anderson. Students
will travel by bus for most of these days however, we do need the assistance of parents for the days
when the bus is not available. Thank you to those parents that have offered to assist we appreciate
your help. Information about what students need each day was ent home last week. Swimming will
go ahead regardless of the weather as it is the indoor pool at Kurri. 40 students have signed up for this
important skill.
F INAL SURVEY FOR THE YEAR Included in the bulletin is our final survey for the year. It will only take a few minutes to complete.
The information from these two short surveys will be reported on in the Annual School Report and
your feedback is very important to us. Each child that returns the survey will receive a lollipop. I
would appreciate it if they were all returned by the end of this week.
P&C CHRISTMAS RAFFLE UNDERWAY Yesterday all families were sent a book of raffle tickets to sell over the next few
weeks. The prizes for this raffle are excellent and will be handy at this time of the
year. Our thanks go to Sharon Fletcher for her efforts in securing many of these
prizes from local businesses. She has certainly been very busy. Kristy Londero has
also been busy organising the raffle tickets and putting them together. There are a good variety of
prizes for both children and adults. The sheet accompanying the raffle tickets gives you a good
example of the 15 prizes on offer. The raffle will be drawn at our Christmas Concert. Tickets are $2
each or 3 for $5. Money raised will go to the P&C who have purchased Mathletics for all students in
2012. We are hoping to raise $800 to cover the cost of this important program for all our students. So
let’s get busy taking them to work or visiting your neighbours and don’t forget to buy some yourself!
Don’t forget to send in your donation of non perishable Christmas goodies
for the hamper. These can be left at the office.
COMBINED SPORTS DAY On Friday afternoon this week, year 4/5/6 will be hosting a visit from Greta Public School senior
students. We hope to play a series of minor games and get to know students who may be attending
high school with our students. We hope it will be a fun afternoon for all students involved. As a result
of this activity, we will hold our School Assembly at 11:30 that day so that our swimmers can
participate as well.
H IGH SCHOOL O RIENTATION DAY On Tuesday 6th December our year 6 students attending Rutherford Technology High school will be
attending their Orientation Day at high school. Students will spend the day in classes with students
from other schools and will experience a variety of lessons in different parts of the high school so that
they are more familiar with the larger venue and maybe meet some new friends. I am sure they will
have a great day.
VOLUNTEERS MORNING TEA Many of you would have received an invitation to our special morning tea. This is so that we can say
thank you for all your time and energy spent as a volunteer for pour wonderful school. We could not
do what we do without your assistance and support, so please try to attend to so that we can say
thank you for your help. Friday, 9th December at 10:30am.
