This is a photograph of a staircase in Windsor town centre. This was one of the specific locations which I am planning to use. I chose this because of the lamppost lighting which is in place in this area. Filming in these lighting conditions will allow me to be able to communicate the mood that I am trying to create easier. The low key dim lighting will hopefully help to create a saddening and depressing mood which will relate to the title and theme of the song I am intending to use.

Because of the lamppost lighting, I will be able to create interesting shadows, specifically of the actor. This would be visually appealing and would make my video more intriguing and interesting to watch. It is also much more dramatic than using plain daylight lighting which can be boring.

I researched and watched the official music video of the song ‘Recovery’ by James Arthur ( the song I am going to use) and realised that the video uses extreme lighting with big contrast. This is aided by the use of black and white in the video. This is why I want to use these type of lighting conditions because it would enable me to create a contrast. A small screenshot of the official video is shown on the next page.

This is another photograph of a possible area within Windsor which I would specifically use for my music video. This is another staircase which I could use. I plan to use these staircases to make it seem like he is struggling. I would position the actor in the area indicated sitting on the stair case looking depressed (hands in face, looking down, anger etc.). I would decide to position the actor in this particular position to add more interest to the framing of the shot. This would be an effective ‘use of thirds.’

I could shoot the actor from this particular angle and position him to the right or left of the frame. This would connote that everyone is looking down on him by filming down on the actor from a high angle. This would also be a back shot which could give a sense of hidden identity. All of these possible moods that could be created through this shot would help to ensure that the music video is understood by the audience.

Underpaths

Underpaths will also be another key location for my music video. I chose these because they create an extremely urban and gritty mood which is what I want. The under paths are very narrow which would enable me to create a sense of anxiety and claustrophobia. This will reinforce the mood of the video for the audience to be able to understand it effectively.

Underpaths

This is a screenshot of possible locations of underpaths I will use. This is underneath the roundabout near The Windsor Boys School. These underpaths have interesting strip lighting which will allow me to be more creative with my camera shots and make them more dramatic.
