The brand name “Selectos del Mar” ( fish and salted fish “La Higuerita”) commercializes products like salmon from >Norway or Smoked Cod from Iceland.

Working circumstances of sailors at sea

Huelva has the highest number of men working as fishermen in Spain.

The social and working situation of fishermen differs from those of workmen on earth, for obvious reasons.

Nowadays it is a hard, dangerous , highly demanding job.

All the family is involved in this disturbing situation.

The conditions are different depending on the situation on board: one ship is one independent world.

Salaries: according to the fishing activity

Inshore fishing: depending on the capture, and only HALF the benefits goes to the fishermen.

Deep sea fishing: higher salaries but hard job and long time away from their families.
